I said the 11th (Friday at 6pm Sydney time (11am Moscow))

But I also said if that conflicts, just suggest another time and I will be there.

What date do you get back? Just organise it for when you get back to Aus? If you say the 15th or something, I’m sure they’d be fine with it smile

Yea that makes sense. Worst that happens, just email Elena and change the date… or go to a maccas and skype via your phone. Or does BB not have that feature yet?

Hey Guys!

Just wanted to post an update. I had my interview a couple of days ago (YES!) It was pretty easy (like a standard job interview) Tell me about yourself, why you want to volunteer, give me an example of a time when you… etc. I was supposed to interview with Elena, but we couldn’t get the Skype Video to work correctly so I had one of her co-workers interview me instead the following day.

The entire interview took about 45 minutes and was completely in English (thankfully) Just remember that English is their 2nd language so try not to use “slang” words that may not translate well.

They did ask me some questions about the Olympics (when did it start, what is the Olympic motto, etc.) so brush up on your Olympic knowledge! I’m not sure if my availability to work one of the “test events” helped or not, but I hope that it does! They also said that they (Sochi Olympic Organizing Committee) will be paying for the Russian Visa! (no not that Visa) a Visa to enter the country! That’s a savings of a few hundred dollars! And if you are selected to work a test event you will receive notification of your status soon! (which makes sense seeing as the test events start again in early February 2013)

Good Luck to the rest of you who haven’t had your interview yet! Please post your results so we can share the joy together!

Thanks for the update Rob.  Didn’t think of the Visa cost, so thats cool too.  I know there was a law passed a few weeks ago to speed up the process of olympic volunteers getting a visa that just had to be signed by Putin.

Everyone have a great Holiday!

I got an email with the following. No response from Elena about my interview yet though.

Hello!

This letter is sent to you from a partner of the organizing committee “Sochi-2014” - the company Detech.

You are invited to the next stage of selection of candidates for volunteers Olympics. This stage is an online test, for which you will need a total of about six hours.

Remember! You can run all the tests only once. Aptitude tests are strictly limited in time, in the process of their implementation can not be interrupted.

Please provide yourself before the necessary conditions for the test. You have to do:
1) “The verbal test” to assess the ability to understand instructions and follow them in the process.
2) “The numerical test” to assess the ability to work with numerical information, charts and schedules.
3) “The survey of business as a volunteer”, aimed at identifying the competencies that are important in the work of volunteers.

Before each test will be instructed to implement it, and examples, so that you can prepare for the test, to understand and understand what problems you have to solve.

To run the test on a computer you need a web browser with integrated “Microsoft Silverlight» (Microsoft Silverlight). If it is not, you will automatically be prompted to download and install it when you go to a site testing. You can also download it manually from this address: http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/ (just go through the same browser, which are going to be tested) - this is important.

For stable operation of the application should run in the browser Internet Explorer to Windows (or Safari in Mac OS X).

Please do the tests in the near future after receiving this letter. After passing the test committee “Sochi-2014” will inform you about the next steps.

If you experience technical problems, you can call: 8800 550-20-14 (toll-free in Russia) or write to the following address: @ volunteers.info sochi2014.com .

To begin testing, go to:

I received an email like this early in the process It’s my understanding that this is only for Russian citizens not for international volunteers.  And it’s in Russian…

The waiting is killing me, maybe I’ll get an early Christmas present and get the word that I’ve been officially accepted into the program!

This is what I was thinking. I might check it out today and report back. I’ll probably have a few hours with nothing to do once I get through these emails. I did buy some speakers from JB so I’m rocking out in the corporate area listening to some Nirvana at the moment lol.
