Where were you riding?
Today was the best day so far in the 3 seasons I’ve been in Whistler. Went to blackcomb with my buddy, got to 7th just as the chair was open, probably 6th or 7th chair up. Fresh pow everywhere, got stuck for a bit in the first run, not enough speed to get through the flat areas on 7th, and still getting used to my pow legs. 2nd run was awesome, 3rd and 4th run was ok, getting tracked. Figured we wanna try couloir extreme/big bang next, but saw that the snow wasn’t good, pretty packed and moguls. Decided to do pakalolo instead but closed by the ski patrol, we don’t wanna wait, so we turn left and got some pretty good pow down secret chute (I think it’s secret chutes) and then down to blowdown. The most fun part is after lunch we decided to hit the trees of 7th cat track and down one of the runs to solar coaster (can’t remember the name), soft snow, a bit bumpy, but tons of side hits, did 2 runs of this. Just an awesome day.
Wow. Wow. epic. epic.
Only had time for a few hours before work this morning, but it was brilliant. Rode solar chair for the most part (everything else including jersey! was on standby) but was shown some wicked new tree runs by some local mates.
Unreal day. Can’t wait for a full day tomorrow, and then the weekenders can have it!!
I reckon that this might be killin Jeremy?????
You heartless mongrels!!!!!
Keep up the good work!!!!!

Where were you riding?
Rode whis the whole day, lapped emerald a few times through some sick trees but the lift lines got pretty big after a while. Lapped Garbanzo a few times after which was awesome! Back up to emerald until last chair, was supposed to meet up with some mates at emerald to ride down to the village at the end of the day, took a wrong turn and boom, ended up on ptarmigan, no one in sight and a whole run of pow to ourselves, had a grin from ear to ear the whole way down.
Did anyone make it up to harmony yesterday? was meant to go down but the lift lines were HUUUGE.
Had an amazing last 2 days riding waist deep powder, will do a full write up in the next day or so.
For anyone wanting to meet up tomorrow let me know, my no is 6049672421
Spent most of the day at harmony and there was hardly anyone there. I only had to line up the first time and everybody else seemed to be doing the same runs so there was heaps of untouched powder. Can’t wait for symphony and santa day tomorrow.
finney how’s DC board ?
Luke, are you riding with a guy Russell? I know he’s over there and has that black/green jacket
Yeah that’s Russell he’s just here shredding for the season.
McConkeys is out of the ski area boundary and it does get a little funky in some spots so its a good idea to go with people that know the area a little. The kind of place you can get funnelled into some steep creeks with some nice holes.
Happy holidays everyone!
The lineup for the the ski patrol to open spankys on thursday morning. freeeeeeesh poooooooow
Ok so finally some time to sit down and do a proper write up for the past few days.
Flew into Vancouver early Tuesday morning and met up with Shane at the airport as he’d just flown back in from Hawaii. We took the skytrain downtown and met up with his friend Sarah who was kind enough to give us both a lift back up to Whistler on one condition, that we helped her do Christmas shopping for her kids which was a bit of fun.
Caught up with some mates on Tuesday night for a few drinks and then on Wednesday sorted out all my paperwork for work and lift pass.
Meet Mitch.. my housemate complete with the Christmas tree that he put up with custom made decorations and a view down our street which I took on the 21st
Finally made it up the hill on Thursday which was one of the greatest days I think I’ve ever had in all my seasons here and couldn’t have asked for a better first day up the hill. Met up with a friend Tim down at creekside nice and early to get one of the first gondolas up. We then met up with Louise off here up the top of the whistler gondola and then went off to hunt some of the 50cm that had fallen on the previous night.
We started off with one of my favourite lines off Red chair and then did a bunch of laps off Garbanzo as there were far less people riding around the mid mountain area. Had a great run through International trees and Club 21 before we decided to move to another location. We went over towards Harmony which wasn’t open but found some amazing stashes of thigh deep goodness, upon getting to the bottom there was a large line up already for Harmony which still wasn’t open so we decided to head back to Garbanzo after seeing the huge line at Emerald. Upon getting to Garbanzo we were informed by the lifty that harmony had just cracked which meant we’d missed it by less than 5 minutes. Figuring that harmony had just opened we figured we’d head to Peak as historically it’s always opened shortly after Harmony. Louise had to leave around this point so Tim and I went down to wait for Peak which opened within 5 minutes of us getting to the bottom.
The first lap we decided to go with an old favourite and shot straight to Million Dollar Ridge as we figured it’d be a good way to avoid the crowds. Unfortunately this was not the case and I think it was safe to say that there were more people heading out of bounds than staying inbounds. Even with the huge numbers of people lining up to get out there we still found our fair share of fresh lines through the trees. The run out to creek was a little crowded at times but Big Timber was great fun with more than enough cover out there making it possible for us to pop off pretty much anything in sight.
After such a crazy morning we took a quick break in Dusty’s and were a little undecided as to whether we’d head back out again but after bumping into some more friends we decided another lap was definitely needed. Decided to do things a little differently 2nd time around and had a great line down through Christmas Trees/Everglades and McConkeys through some of the deepest driest snow I’ve ever seen in Whistler.
Friday brought another 15cm of fresh snow so we were back up on Peak chair again which saw us doing 2 more top to bottom laps through Everglades and Bansai followed by McConkeys. We managed to get the first lines through Everglades on our first run and with the Northerly winds blowing the night before mixed with the new snowfall it was significantly deeper than 15cm and more like 40-50cm. Needless to say getting first lines through snow that deep was amazing.
Feeling a bit sore from the 2 previous days riding and a few too many drinks last night Today was a much slower start to the day. Symphony opened for the first time this season and with the low temps holding over the past few days the fresh snow from the previous 72 hours was still in tact out there. Once again my timing was perfect and got out there just as patrol were taking the ropes down. Managed to get 2 good laps in before the crowds picked up at which point I decided to get out of there and shot over to Blackcomb. Had one good lap through Outer Limits off Crystal chair and then decided to call it for the day as the past 2 days were catching up with me so once back over at Whistler went for one more top to bottom via Everglades and then down to creek for some Samurai Sushi before heading home.
View heading up Symphony today.
That just about covers my first 3 days up the hill, perfect start to the season. Hope you all got your fair share of the snow thats fallen over the past week.
I’ll have Monday-Wednesday off every week from now on so anyone who wants to meet up feel free to give me a yell - would be great to get everyone out on the hill together.
After the madness of the Christmas and new year period is over I’ll arrange a night out at Sushi Village aswell.

Just had my first day on it today as I was riding my YES previously so still need some getting used to it but overall pretty happy with it so far.

A mate and I were in the first 20 on Friday morning and we waited less than 5 minutes, sooooooo siiiiiick! My first ever proper double black run and oh boy, what a run :D
We then took a punt and headed to 7th, only to find that it opened just minutes before we got there and we got a completely untracked run all the way to the bottom. Epic luck, epic day.
Finney, what an awesome way to start off your season!!! So stoked for you buddy. Wish I could be riding some pow with you… But at least I’m now on hols and chilling in Byron Bay, so not too bad Where are you living this season? You, Mitch, and a couple others sharing somewhere? You working on Red Chair again? Get the lead hand?
Skip, best day in 3 seasons huh?!? Must have been epic! I bet you can’t wait to get a hold of your new Yes PYL!
Happy fellas!
