Triple Base Tech? Bataleon

Avatar

Yeah Trent…I was dead keen on the evil twin til I read it had Tri-ax glass. I had an Omatic Sweet which had tri-ax glass & it was such a sick board, but just too stiff to be playful. Soooo much pop, but it was really difficult for me to play around on. It makes me think that boards with tri-ax glass are really made as high performance vehicles and although I enjoyed the pop, I don’t really need or want such a stiff board. As much as I’d like to hit massive kickers and need it, it ain’t gonna happen!

for japan im going both ends of the spectrum, my stiff evil twin and the noodly burton nug. Hopefully they both perform well.

Have you ridden the YES board also Lester? Wondering how you find the boards differ and if you have a favourite yet?

Sorry Dan83 completely missed your post till today, I’ve been riding both board lately and to put pick a favorite is tough because they perform so much differently under differnet conditions, The Greats is a amazing board, lots of fun, great for high speed carving and straight lining down the mountain, it hold ups very well not much chatter and over Ice it’s no magna traction but it does very well I don’t avoid ice when I’m on the board if that helps. With the Now bindings in reg pow it floats well and feels amazing, I will update when I hit some deep stuff when I head west next month and then a detailed review after Whistler in Feb. I would have to say that the Greats up to now is my favorite all around board very closely followed by Lib Tech Banana magic love that magna traction grin

The Evil Twin is a beast without a doubt POP is the name of the game I can’t stop talking about it, it’s amazing and that’s why I absolutely love this board for park use, hitting kickers mostly, it’s stiff enough to take any hit but with TBT it saves you on the scatchy landings, it has good grip for a camber board anxiously but I’m a lil more cautious on it over ice definitely doesn’t have the grip The Grests does but it’s still holds up. There isn’t much else to say it does the trick end of story will definitely update when I get more time on it and if I notice anything will let you know.

Didn’t ya ride the Tasmaniac at the 2011 Shred, Dan?????

No. I tried a YES basic but the bindings were really incompatible. I tried one for about 200m once (Marc’s). It was a bit short for me, but I liked it had more flex than the other two YES boards I have tried.

I’m looking at getting a TBT board, for park riding, tossing up between the Evil Twin and a Lobster board…

Any thoughts?

The Basic is softer than the Tasmaniac?????

That depends on what your plans are in the park, rails and jibbing hmmm wouldn’t recommend the evil twin the TBT on it isn’t the widest get a Lobster or a Bataleon with Jib TBT

unless you want a board for hitting big kickers then get the Evil Twin I have it and love it, it’s a bad ass stick, LOADS OF POP

gulp

Hahaha - maybe it is softer. I used both boards so briefly and at different times. The bindings on the basic were ridiculously soft so I couldn’t flex the board for sh*t, so that would have had a lot to do with it. (It was actually one of the worst setups I’ve ridden surprised)

A quick update about the Evil Twin took it out today in better conditions (man made + a couple inches of the fresh stuff, in fairly cold temps), and it just keeps getting better and better, pop do I need to even mention again?! Hit some decent kickers 10-15ft and ohh man a dream talk about stompin in flat landing no issues, and even in situations where I landed in the back seat it absorbed the land so well the 10ft kicker felt like nothing. Back to the pop 180s, 360s on the flats are effortless and in the times it seems a lil scatchy I call it auto correction because if I don’t fully rotate it sorta glides into place and saves my button because of the elevated edges on the tip and tail.

Also did some higher speed carving and it was effortless + smooth, minor slide over ice at times but no wipe outs.

It’s been been said that this board can take whatever you throw at it, I confirm!

Overall do you like this more or the YES more?
