GoProHero3 Black - last one in Sydney?
I’m going to sell my unopened GPH3B.
How should I do it?
a) retail surf/snow/skate shop
^(helping owner attract customers into shop, with big ticket price with other ActionCams for sale at rrp(Drift Ghost - later this week).
b) ebay (currently 8 selling - last night one sold at auction for $920)
c) on BW (with a starting price, first to commit gets the goods)
d) all of the above.
I will include a 16GB micro SD and hand-delivered in the Greater Sydney area before Xmas (still time to express-post to other areas).
Should I update firmware and charge the battery offering it “As New” or leave it “Brand-New, Unopened”
What price should I ask?
I think start at $650 and increase daily by $50 until Xmas eve (hand delivered remember).
^ this will be my posting strategy on BW and other forums.
On ebay I will have the clause of; “selling elsewhere, may remove listing” and start bidding at $650, Buy-It-Now $900.
Thoughts?
Ah good old supply vs demand profiteering! Entirely up to you mate but doing this attached to your company branding in anyway will have a detrimental effect to the goodwill associated with that name IMO. If you do it, do it as an anonymous individual.
Do whichever you like! Agreed with NBG though - if you sell for the inflated price to meet demand, I wouldn’t be letting your business name have anything to do with it.
i truly don’t understand what the humanity has come to WHO IN THE WORLD is dumb enough to spend $900 on go pro when in few weeks/month you can get it for $360 i mean hell with it i will come out and say it i can get a go pro3 black right now for around $350…( AND NO ITS NOT FROM OS)
$920 if i know a person that has purchased this cam for 920 i would buy him a drink and tell a bartender to slap him and to put it on my bill….

You can list it on here for that kinda money, but I’m 100% sure that the people on Boardworld aren’t as stupid as some of the general public!!!!!

The only reason why anyone here would even be interested in paying more than RRP for something, would be for charitable reasons!!!!!
there’s no way you should open it to update and charge the battery first. That will just turn it from “brand new” to “used”. It sounds like eBay will potentially return you the highest profit, but as you would know, there’s no guarantees with eBay.
Sell it on eBay with not only a “Buy it Now”, but a “Make an Offer” as well.
Bugger the firmware and battery - DO NOT open it at all!!!
You could make this a contest…
-Sell the current one on Ebay.
-Start bidding at $650
-BWM have to guess what it will sell for
-Cosest guess pre-listing wins
-See how high it goes
-Give one away when they’re available for RRP to the winner of the correct/closest guess.
-Still walk away with $500+

It’s only not worth opening when you can double / triple your money on one.
Also, Spaz isn’t the biggest GoPro fan and has a bunch of other cameras he can use.
I am in agreence with the others, sell it on ebay but don’t put snowcam and don’t put a buy it now (you get spam buys).
Just put it up for $1 or min price and then set a $500 reserve. Anything you make over that is a bonus.
I’m assuming because it’s Xmas someone would want to pay more than rrp so they can GIVE it as a gift on that CHARITABLE day, to their loved ones who dearly want GPH3b off Santa.
I didn’t purchase it through my business so never intended to sell it with my business name attached. But good advice by all who made sure I don’t.
I would consider giving away another camera brand - I’m not prone to encourage GoPro so wouldn’t give one away.
Just received an email that my DriftHDGhost are in transit. I will see if the surf shop wants to display the GPH3Black but keep it at an inflated price (for those that enquire) for this weekends Xmas rush. It should attract customers and hopefully they will purchase other gifts while there.
^ In this scenario we don’t want to sell the camera just use it for advertising (following GoPro’s marketing formula) so the inflated price is to deter it selling - the price wouldn’t be advertised. Baiting the waters of a consumer buying frenzy.

But the parents that would pay extra money just so their spoilt brat of a kid can get what they want a few days earlier, NEED to go spend a few days in a third world country in order to wake up to themselves!!!!!

They probably should spend time in a third world country but this isn’t a third world country and consumers have been trained into spending, even ridicules amounts, on items they don’t need - especially this time of year.
