Snazzy! That was super nice.
Yeah that was really great to watch. Did you want the making of FIREFLY video?
‘Skating videos are ten a penny in the world of online video; tricks, stunts, fails and GoPro perspectives have all been done to death, so it’s always refreshing when an artist expands upon the idea and turns the extreme sport in to a work of art. FIREFLY could well be renamed the loneliness of the long distance skater. Rather than focusing on the social circus of the skate park, this production explores the beauty of the skater cast adrift, interacting with and being lost within the massive structures that surround it. Instead of close-ups of rails and ramps, FIREFLY does the opposite, reducing the lone skater to an insect – a firefly – in the massive concrete jungle of the city.
To achieve this illusion, the board is rigged with a beautiful incandescent glow that pierces the darkness. The cameras, utilising some impressive Jamcopters technology, hover high above the environment exposing the network of roads, freeways, skyscrapers and open spaces. FIREFLY, produced by Samadhi Productions, is a beautiful rendition of a well-documented subject that exemplifies how art and technology can intersect and push the boundaries of video creativity, combined with a haunting, yet enchanting piano score, FIREFLY is a sublime piece of artistry.’
Agree wholeheartedly with the post above. I really like the unique camera perspective.
