We got a little bit last night, maybe 1cm
I was out all day yesterday and it was WET WET WET!
It started to wet snow in the middle of the afternoon but didn’t really do much for the cover as it was just too wet.
Early on Slalom, Snake and Cornice were quite OK considering the snow depth is what it is. The cover was slushy, soft and patchy even early on.
Snow was obviously being pushed around quite easily so there was some icy patches coming down the steeper runs.
Summit was really patchy - many tufts of grass/shrub sticking through the soft snow…...black patches everywhere.
At least it did not hurt when falling over.
By mid morning I was drenched, so a pit stop for an early lunch at Zirkys Bistro with a glass of Sav Blanc enabled me to thaw out.
Its been snowing pretty much all night and all day so far…...there was about 10cms or so on the balcony this morning and it does not look like stopping anytime soon.
I just hope that Hotham can get some more terrain open by the end of the week…....more of Heavenly would be good
hotham reported 27cms only for yesterday…...I reckon another 20cms has fallen today.
My balcony has been smashed all day….it has not let up.
Took a trip up to Hotham to see what it was like…....low vis and many lifts on wind hold.
Hopefully the wind dies down a little over the next few days.
I’ll get out tomorrow morning and hopefully post up some pics
Its really good news of the ammount of snow dumped over the weekend and yesterday!
Im heading up to hotham with a mate at the end of the month I hope the snow depth stays the same till then and fingers crossed they open up orchard or atleast a few other lifts.
The system produced approx 45cms all up over Sunday and Monday
Got out on the mountain for a ride Tuesday and yesterday
It was a little icy and visibility was not great yesterday.
Today was a better day conditions wise, but I could not get on the hill
A few more areas of Heavenly are open and they have also managed to get The Drifty open now.
It’s looking less and less likely that Orchard area will open at all this eason, which is a shame.
Great blog you’ve got going here bdenny! Helloooo by the way!
Hi Billy
Go Pies hey!
Today wa the BEST day of the season so far (well….my best day anyway).
Headed out early to Heavenly and Imagine and Slalom and Snake were just great - little stashes of fluffy powdery snow in some bit.
Did not find it icy at all over there this morning.
I tried Brokhof (the first bit) and loved it….up the very top near the trees there was some wind blown powder that I accidently sat in and couldn’t wiggle out of easily
Seems they have openend up a few more runs such as Canyon and Gun Barrell.
thought I’d then head off to The Drift which I have never done before. It is a realy bugger to get to, especially on a board.
They were doing race training over there so had to traverse down the left hand side of the T-Bar which is a bit of a nightmare.
When I gotto the bottom of the T it was stuck for 20mins becaues some iditot had presseed the STOP button on one of the towers as a joke (apparently).
So after I cruised on up I only had enough time for two runs down the virtually untracked face to extreme left after getting off the T.
It was great and the snow was awesome…......a little bumpy in parts but when you’re carving your own tracks with some powder underneath it just the best.
great morning on the hill topped off with lunch at the White Room
Awesome! Stoked you had great day on the hill.
sweet bdenny!
Sounds like the snow season has had a late blossom but is finally here!
Can’t wait to get up there at the end of the month
RJH, your avatar is rad!

I’ll have to get a better shot this year round when im hitting the slopes at the end of the month and this time i wont photoshop it to make all those fancy colors
Oh and btw its a aussie flag face mask i’ve got on which is really warm and is so good for when your on the lift and the wind is battering you down :D
Happy Birthday to our favourite Hotham Blogger.
Many Happy returns BD4
Had some friends up over the last few days (and it was my birthday) so I am a little behind with an update or two.
Saturday 7th was a rest day, but headed back out on Sunday and Monday, which were both awesome mornings.
Clear skies, just a gentle hint of a breeze and coolish temps overnight that meant snowmaking.
There was no fresh falls, but conditions on the usual runs were very good until late morning when the gullies started to mogul up and get a little slushy. Imagine was very good and I tended to head there as it does not get quite so chopped.
