I chose accomodation
Does anyone have any updates to share? Is it December yet?... Haha!
Tomorrow is December. I was actually thinking about it this morning as I went to get my coffee.
Seriously this Russia trip is the thing that gets me through days at the moment!
Hope to get an interview soon
Sunday is December in Europe…
I just received this email!
Dear Rob, please choose date and time you would like to have your interview, you can choose any up to December 20 including weekends. Please note Moscow time.
We will discuss these issues during the interview
Many thanks!

Could this really be the “Golden Ticket” we have been waiting for?...
Well I haven’t got it yet :(
Congrats Rob!
I haven’t got it either, but good to know they are still sending them!
Thanks! I’m assuming that they probably got bored of me constantly emailing them inquiring about my status. Don’t give up hope! We’ll all get there, and remember first round is on me when we get to Sochi!

I’ll hold you to that…
Hi, I’m not a boarder of any type, ice hockey is my game. I came across your Sochi volunteer talk in a google search.
Anyway, I applied in May, had my Skype interview in October. And now waiting to see if I get chosen. The test event for hockey is in April, they told me I would hear in February if I’m needed.
Also, there is still time to apply, final date is Mar. 1, 2013.

Good luck to everyone who applied!
Hey angiodan, thats good news. The link you posted says 80% of people who applied have been chosen. Not sure if thats good or bad for us that havent had interviews though.
Keep on board and feel free to post. Hopefully we will see you at Sochi - I’d love to go see some hockey games!

Hello! Thank you for the information! Seeing as most (all) of us haven’t gone through the process yet, and information is hard to find, can you help us out with some questions? What were some of the questions asked during the interview? How long did it take? Any suggestions on what they are looking for?
February huh? I suppose seeing as I started the process in March, what’s a few more months of waiting! Right?
Yep, I’m in the same boat rob.
Though if I’m not accepted as a volunteer, I’ll probably just do a Japan / Korea trip instead and get some gnarly pow!
It is still probably a good idea for me to save some leave and money for a trip anyways
The 80% remark bummed me out as well, but as long as they are still taking apps, I guess you have a chance.
The interview for me took about 45-50 minutes. I had a pleasant young female who spoke pretty decent english conduct it. She started with basic questions like why I wanted to be a vounteer, have I volunteered in the past, how am I in pressure situations, etc. Then she started to ask specifically about my hockey background. To what level I have played, if I still play, and questions about the game. How long and how many periods, the dimensions of the rink (started to tell her in feet, and she asked for metric), had to pull that out of my butt! Some rules, basically stuff like that. The one that threw me was how long is the intermission betweeen the periods, I told her I know in the NHL they put 17 minutes on the clock, and I guessed 14 mins. for international play. Its 15, oh well. She said not to worry about it.
She then asked if I would be available for the test event (Men’s Under 18 World Championships in April), thanked me, and made it sound that they would be contacting me. Then again, they probably say that to everyone, haha!
I did email them to ask how much notice they would give for a test event, and they told me 6-8 weeks. So, I figure if I don’t hear from them by middle of Febuary, I’m out for the test event. Which wouldn’t be horrible, I’ll work anywhere just for the experience of being there. But I’d love being planted at the rinks for my entire time, just as I’m sure you guys would like to be on the hills.
Will keep you guys updated, and will check on how everyone here is progressing as well.
Good Luck!
Great pictures of the venues, really makes you want to get there all the more!

Hey dude, it sounds pretty good for you. The interview went well and it’s not like they are planning to have you referee the game, I’m sure they can tell the difference between someone who knows it pretty well and someone who hasn’t seen a game in their life lol.
I know we have already opted out of the test events, coming from Australia, it’s over $3000 return to get to Russia! Thats a once in a lifetime option for me and I’m not wasting it on test events lol.
They have also stated that our interview will take place in December and that Ozgirl has already passed the basic tests to get the interview (and they will contact her as such). I have had all the same communication so I am just waiting as well (apart from the confirmation which was extra communication I didn’t go into). If nothing happens in December I’ll start following it up .
Super pumped and 2013 can’t come and go quick enough if I get accepted!
