December 4, 2012 - 351cm/11’6” feet of snow…so far at Whistler Blackcomb

Athletes Eliel Hindert and Braden Dean joined Ryan Proctor (Arc’teryx), Mike Berard (Coast Mountain Culture) and WB’s Peter Lonergan for an early morning shred on Tuesday, December 4, 2012. With 178cms/70” in the last 7 days the conditions are incredible!

On Saturday, Whistler Blackcomb will be opening Blackcomb Mountain’s alpine for the first time this season, weather permitting. This will make 5,280 vertical feet and over 6,000 acres of skiable terrain accessible to guests skiing and riding at Whistler Blackcomb.

Hey Rico, going by the comments from Whistler Blackcomb on the video above it’s looking like this weekend they’ll open it all up. Saturdays weather is looking good but if the winds increase to 40-60km/h as they’re forecasting on the WB website then there’s a chance they may have them on wind hold later on in the day.

Sweet, it’ll be open by the time I’m back in Canada :D

Hey finney it looks like the right side of the black park is open to no helmet, or it was today and the fence is up along the left line for shack etc.  the blue park line is all jibs no jumps.  A ton of down bars at the mo and a couple of other assorted slider bars.

The jump lines in the black park are the same size.

Whistler have pretty much no park and I think it’s going to say that way.  Just a couple of boxes and down bars, no jumps and not even really pushing any snow up to make some.  General idea is to get the rats off green chair.

Still no grooming to the valley but its not far off.

30 days until I get my first run on Whistler!!

Woot Woot

(but in contrast to my depart Australia countdown it seems sooooo long!)

Any reports on when the terrain garden might open? I’m eager to ride some small park features.

Also, who’s been riding peak chair? I was bummed that I missed the opening, was riding Blackcomb and figured that if they hadn’t opened it by 1pm, they weren’t going to…. shame.

A friend recently showed me fraggle rock which has definitely become my new favourite area! Love riding with new peeps who know all the spots.

And is there any word of a boardworld meet up or ride day? Keen to meet some peeps and find some shred buddies!

Did Peak chair yesterday, definitely worth it to drop off the side into the trees on the side towards Creekside. Visibility was rubbish though.

At a guess I’d say that the terrain garden should be opening in the coming weeks before the christmas break.

As for a Boardworld meet up I’ll try and sort something out once I’m over there. Although in saying that theres nothing stopping you from organising something yourself in the mean time.
