Michelle actually needs to give me a beep test any day now (she is doing a personal training course). I am not looking forward to it.
Going for a swim now. Going to take it easy as my back pulled up a bit sore earlier in the week.
I’ll probably regret this (should just google it) but what is a beep test??
Beep test is surprisingly tiring.
Btw which organization is Michelle getting her cert with?

It’s a repetitive running test, that’s used to measure endurance!!!!!
Ya run from designated points (back and forth) within a timeframe that gradually gets shorter!!!!!
The timeframes have levels assigned to them, that are used to give you a rating!!!!!
Hope that kinda makes sense?????
I just had a look at the website, lots of stories on there. I guess I am not by nature a patient person and find pain when it comes to exercise to be a good thing and may find it hard to relate to others who don’t look at it the same way. It’s also brought on by watching others and at times myself take what I consider to be the easy option when it comes to this stuff. I have done it before and kicked myself later for wasting my time on some new fangled easy way of doing things.
Probably came across as knocking the program which I pretty much was, I was just a little bemused yesterday when after smoking a pack a day up until Melb Cup (had a few since then too), a massive weekend on the booze, pizza the night before, rooted knees, tendency for shin splints and being literally in the obese range for BMI I cranked out 5km without really even feeling too much drama. What I’m not knocking however is someone having a desire to do something about their physical fitness and I guess if that’s what’s going to work for someone I should shut up about it.
I think you are missing the point as to what the program is about. There’s a whole heap of people out there who are seriously unfit and would like to change this. By following a program like C25K they go for literally doing nothing (couch) to running 5km in a period of a couple of months. Along the way it’s actually become a habit and therefore something that they will possibly continue to do.
But congratulations that you are fit enough to be able to bang out 5kms without any real effort or training. Not everyone else can do that.
I don’t think I’m missing the point Tobi, I think people just look for the easy option all the time and aren’t prepared to put up with any level of discomfort in order to achieve a physical goal, consequently not many do and we now live in a nation with epidemic levels of obesity. I would be interested to see if the C25K program has any higher rate of success for those that start than any other exercise program currently being spruiked on the market.
What I’m getting at is I don’t think the softly softly approach yields any greater participant retention or completion and goal achievement rate than any other program. I’m not knocking the program so much as the attitude of people to fitness that leads to the popularity of a program that promises to make it “easy” and painless to get to your “goal”. Call me callous, uncaring, impatient, obnoxious etc but that’s my thoughts on the matter, I have always been accused of an all or nothing approach in that regard.
Preach!
Yeh thats my attempt at saying i agree
Swam 2km this arvo.
*1:40am can’t sleep #lame
Swam 1km this morning. Hoping to swim at least 2km tomorrow.
Just swam 1.5km. Feels like I am slowly getting a bit more endurance.

Keep it up mate!
Hells yea- Good work Rider!!! keep up the good effort!!! I used to race as a kid, Training was benefitial (even though I HATED laps upon laps) But I did really benefit when it came to my speed events!!!
When is the event (at bondi) where you are going to be swimming with our support?
I’ll probably regret this (should just google it) but what is a beep test??

Yea Mate, total sense!! Just never heard it referred to as that before. I hate running, I always feel like I look like a total doof. I look badass on a treadmill for like 5-6 minutes tho . . .
Swam 4km today.
