GoPro HERO 3

Who is buying a Black?  Unfortunately it looks like Spaz won’t be able to sell these.  Best price I’ve found so far is $419, ETA late Nov/early Dec.  Not sure how real that timing is, although there are some Blacks starting to filter out now.

I just came from a meeting which changes my ability to sell GoPro!!!!!
Just waiting to get pricing and supply times…

Apparently big retail outlets (like Hrvey Norman) won’t be selling GP3black.
AND; the first 2 shipments of black have already been allocated!

I was told I can order GP3black from the 3rd shipment and will have it before Christmas.
Prices are going to be rrp and orders paid up front. There will be a practical gift for BWM that would add-up to one of the best deals going - for info PM me.
I won’t garantee delivery before Christmas even though the warehouse has quoted they will arrive (the first shipment hasn’t arrived yet).

Silver and White will also be on back-order and at rrp (the warehouse has run out). New stock in 2-3weeks.

GP3 pricing;
Black $469
Black Surf $489
Silver $379
White $269

skiing or not ( im definately a boarding convert..) thats still an EPIC video… and loving the clarity from the gp3black.. and the fact it doesnt over expose the snow and blow out all the highlights like mine has been known to in the past (gp1 btw - havent had too much use of the gp2s in bright snowy conditions.. it rained then snowed (almost white out) the 2 days i took it down lol)

That’s using “Protune” mode h0z, which allows you to adjust exposure but reduces overall image quality. Reviews suggest you have to fix colour and sharpness during post production.

Given that the editor created all the overlays and effects (often done to cover poorer clips (or to look cool)) what quality lost by using Protune was fixed in post.

The resulting vision is very impressive, shadows not to dark and sunlight on snow not blown out in the same shot! The colours are ok. Some of the action footage is a little soft or pixelated for 1080@60fps - But it is on youtube.

This isn’t out-of-camera nor a great example of what gp3b shoots. It’s what can be achieved using gp3b+edit tools+editing skill.
(which is kinda the type of person gp3black is aimed at - professional image manipulation experts)

First thing that I noticed is when they are talking at the start!!!!!

The sound is great!!!!!

Same thought here.

I would suggest they used an external mic or opened the housing door. If it’s because the housing door is opened then it’s amazing quality audio!
It’s the only audio in the video that is captured with the footage.

Hey Guys,

I can confirm that anyone wanting a Hero3 Black before Christmas will be disappointed. White and Silver should be in stock at all good photographic retailers, but the Black has had such huge demand over in the US in the lead up to Xmas that they kept the Australian allocation for themselves. :(
The white and silver are still very capable cameras if you don’t need 120fps.

Avatar

Yeah, when they have some US retailers that sell more than we Aussies buy in total, unfortunately they aren’t the only company that operate that way!!!!!

Avatar

Yeah, I’m aware of some stuff not making it to Australia at the moment.
But this was an easy prediction.

Yesterday I was playing with silver, even it was purchased in the US as it was almost $100 cheaper retail over there. WTF?

It will be interesting to see how many people decide to buy Silver or even White now they can’t get Black, a result GoPro would be pleased with.

The site I got mine from says the rough ETA is 19/12/12.. And they spoke to gopro about it..  But again.. Not holding my breath..  I don’t actually “need it” I have 3 others..  and as I’ve said before.. As long ad I get it before the next AUS snow season.. I’m all good! Haha smile

Likely they spoke to one of the GoPro sales reps about it. Who have been un-contactable until last Friday, conveniently after shipment was due.

GoPro are doing everything they can to remove online dealers - have been for 12 months now.
And will not supply big retail outlets BlackEdition.
I suspect this will also carry-over to online stores.

You should consider giving the online store you purchased from an ultimatum; refund money or guaranty delivery on a date. Otherwise I doubt you’ll get it by next snow season - seriously!

And lets face it - in 6 months Black will likely be outdated.

Pretty sure that JB HiFi was advertising the fact that the GoPro 3 Black will soon be available through them?????

It was in their latest catalogue!!!!! (No dates provided on release though)
