Help a newb out - do these cracks need to be repaired?
I just recently bought this used Nitro snowboard, but I failed to notice these cracks and dings until I returned home. Do these have to be repaired? Is this an extensive repair or can I do it at home?
The size of the small lifted part is 0.5 centimetres (0.2 inches) and the bigger crack is a little less than 2.5 centimetres (1 inch).

From those photos the damage just looks cosmetic. It doesn’t need to be repaired. If you want you can smooth out the jagged areas with a blade and sandpaper.
Yep ^ my bf carries a small army/pocket knife for this exact reason.. To remove any lifted grafic, before it gets worse.. And we just smooth it over when we get back home/where we are staying =)

I did some light hammering on the lifted part yesterday, and managed to make it mostly level with the board surface so that ding is done, I think.

Are you talking about the rusty areas or that lifted part of the graphic?

Yep, I agree, you can’t beat a good army knife for these kinds of small repairs haha
If ya see any cracks that can lead to water entering into the wood core of the board, just use an epoxy resin such as Araldite to plug the crack!!!!!
Then just file it smooth!!!!!
as above, then break out a texta to colour in the chips/cracks.

If you want to take rust off edges you will need a gummy stone or diamond stone etc.
