Lucky him private jet and all lol
Dunno he just doesn’t do it for me.
Yeah I’m the same lanox. I’m not really a fan if his
Not into Redheads Lano?????
Gotta give it to him, the dude can ride!!!!!
That was pretty sick! Looks like Shaun is back (slopestyle).
I didn’t know he could double cork on kickers. New trick?
@andy: He won gold the 2012 X-games in Tignes slopestyle with a couple of dub corks 10 and 12s
Really?? In slopestyle?
I thought he had lost his edge in slopestyle. I definitely didn’t see that.
Wait, I’m confused. Are there 2 winter X games?
The 2012 games I saw, Mark McMorris won the gold in slopestyle. And then there’s this one with Shaun…
It has nothing to do with Shaun. But if I was a Judge I would not score this a 97. No way in hell.
His airs are tight! But his rails??
He only hit the damn end of rails! He’s always done it but especially on this run.
I don’t care that he’s maintaining speed, It’s slopestyle, not big air. Hitting the last 1/4 of every rail is like a bonk. It barely counts.
Sometimes I think judges are scared to take marks from him.
What do u guys think?
Yeppp, there are 2 X games. One in Europe one in US. Hmm I would not score this a 97 but I think he should win gold. No one else does his tricks off the kickers switch backside dub cork 10, cab dub cork 12, backside dub cork 12. All landed perfectly. I think only the last rail section is kinda mehh, first rail I thought is pretty decent, cab 270.
The execution of the cab 270 (also off the toes which is sweet) was beautiful. But that rail just like evry other one he lands on the last 1/4 of the rail. It’s literally closer to a tap than a grind. Terrible style. If the rail was another 5m away it would be sweet. But he would probably just go faster and still gap most of the rail.
I know you’re not a fan of rails anyway, but rails are 1 of 2 components that make up slopestyle. You cant just touch them on your way to the kickers and get a good score. At least, it shouldn’t be that way.
True that he only hit the 1/4 of the rail and all his rails are worse than McMorris’. I don’t know how they judge slopestyle, but I think his 3 dub corks are scored more than his rails (aka it makes up for whatever he scored on the rails) because they are really difficult in that no other rider in the contest (I think, not 100% sure) pulled a dub cork 12 let alone switch.
His last rail trick was horrible I have to admit.
Oh, I’m not disagreeing with you, that he should have won. Hi airs were sick.
I’m just saying, I don’t know where the judges get these scores from.
He hit 3 rails. His best grind was a cab 270 and that one he literally tapped the end of the rail. Every other rail should have lost points for only hitting 1/4 of the rail.
So out of a 100 they took 3 points off. 1 point per rail. They are saying that his rails were almost perfect.
I get that he’s an aerial kind of guy, cause he’s a pipe rider. And that’s fine. But he’s just if you’re are going to compete in Slopestyle then rails have to be half of what you do.
If you just tap the rails on the way through, just to say that you hit the feature, then surely you should be scored that way.
I just really believe from years of watching Shaun compete, the judges always seem to get star struck.
He almost stacked on his “Perfect 100” run. So how is it perfect.
I agree with you. That’s why I said I don’t know how they are judging the whole contest and how many% constitute of rails. I guess they just didn’t score the rail section as highly as it shouldve been, which sucks =(
Yeah, I would really love the judging scales to be released to public for big comps like X games, Olympics, Dew cup etc.
It’s obvious that jumps are usually worth more than rails. I reckon it’s about 70:30 jumps to rails scoring.
Even so, that would mean they gave him a 9/10 for all his rails. That’s way off.
Having said all this, it’s got nothing to do with Shaun. He’s a fierce competitor and I respect that (some people hate it, though I don’t know why).
So if he scores highly for one run just tapping the rails, obviously he’s just going to keep doing what he’s doing. It’s the judges that annoy me.
I may hate his rail style, but I love his pipe riding and the way he stomps every landing so clean in Slopestyle.
