Board & Gear - Tall Guy

Avatar

Went cruising West 4th in Van today. As predicted, couldn’t find any Burton 14 or 15s. I tried on the 13 Ions but they are just too damn small.
I’d really like to try on some of the Rulers in 14 if I can track them down.

I did try the Vans Aura in a 15 and they were probably too big. The fit was too comfortable for a new shoe/boot and the heel slipped a bit. I wore the 14s for about half an hour in store and they were fairly comfortable. Toes hit the front a bit but should loosen up and even though the tongue of the boots is fairly stiff, it was definitely more comfortable after I walked around in them.
I quite liked the double BOA lacing, it tightened well and life time warranty is always a bonus.

Did the smart thing and I’m going to sleep on it, then try some more boots on in Whistler on Wed before I lock in the size 14 Auras.
Tried on 32 boots but surprisingly they were too small and not a comfortable fit.

Also had a look at the 2013 GNU Riders Choice in 162W. Very very nice, that’s definitely the board I’ll get up in Whistler.

phew I must have fluked that one! shaka

Also remember when testing the length of the boots to bend your knees a bit and stand in an athletic stance not straight up and down. This drags your toes back a little bit and replicates how you stand when your on your board.

Yep, those 14s will pack out once you break them in a bit. All boots will pack out about half a size.

Let us know if you have any luck finding Burtons in size 14.

Good call with the board. smile
