pretty cool, but Not really a fan of the whole strapped in thing
Huh, I didn’t even notice he was strapped in. Lame…

Yeh exactly. Yeh its ballys, but its not skateboarding
strapped in???
i didn’t see a helmet ........
A for effort but this isn’t concrete boarding, it’s skateboarding.
Wait, hold the judgement for a sec.
Did you see the way that board turned? It’s not lame because he added straps to a skateboard to get famous.
HE JUST DID THAT ON A FREEBORD!!!
That’s legit.
Looks more like ‘Streetboarding’ to me, which I’d never heard of till I just googled it then!
Check out the youtube clip. The purist skaters will hate it. It looks like a hybrid between skateboarding and snowboarding.
I think anything to bring the ‘fun’ back into skating is a good thing.
Oh hell yeah! This had to happen sooner or later. I’ve got a freebord which is sick for bombing hills and slides but so unbalanced it feels like you are always 2 seconds from death.
This looks like a similar thought but more based on park. I must look into this could be epic for summer time training
Just checked out some streetboard vids, pretty interesting. It will never replace skateboarding, but it looks to be a lot closer to snowboarding, which is golden for training. Do I spend more money on something else to stand sideways on? lol hmmmm
Looks like the closest movements to snowboarding that i’ve seen… does anyone have one of these things?
From the date stamps on the vids I found on youtube, it looks like streetboarding died off in about 2006. Possibly just seen as a fad or novelty. Adopted by the few and ridiculed by the many. Just like skiing. LOL. I kid.
Maybe it’s taken a while to catch on? Cause that vid above is 2012.
I don’t really expect it to become a big sport, cause skateboarding already owns it. But it seems like a good way to train.
Though maybe putting the same amount of time in skating will be less rewarding but more relevant as it’s own thing.
Don’t know.
I’d like to try one though
Thought i would come on here to give you guys a bit of an insight into Streetboarding as Ive been doing it for years.
It never died it 2006, but neither has it ever really come alive. Its remained very underground for numerous political reasons but still enjoyed over the world by a core group of Streetboarders.
Its worth checking out the video which the ‘backflip to blunt’ clip was taken from. It was filmed just recently from a tour of China.
Thanks for posting the video, coho. That was actually pretty gnarly. Different style to skateboarding for sure; more rotations, no flips. I know a guy in Bondi who rips the bowl on a streetboard (he calls it a snakeboard).
Welcome to Boardworld.
Seems like snakeboard is what it was called when it was first invented. But now commonly known as streetboarding.
Is that right Coho?
Also, who makes a good streetboard and where can I shop for one?
(I’m about to leave for Japan, but I would love to try one of these things after the snow melts)
I wonder how easy it is to jump on one of them. Anyone have any idea how heavy they are?
