Anyone have experience on either one of these?
The TBT seems a little more exaggerated the 3D camber profiling but it appears to be the same idea…
Which would be better for the park mainly?
The Rome CrossRocket looks like a sick new board for this season anyone been on one of this??? I hear good things about the Shank but it seems this camber profile is ment for the park but ground trick and rails not that good on jumps..
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Oh yeah shit, this came out this season but haven’t heard much about it. I saw it in store but I’d really like to try it out. I have a feeling it’s going to feel a lot like camrock but a bit looser as it rolls to the sides as well, like a spoon.
Yeah it seems like a smart design…
wow SamNZ that’s a pretty bold statement considering how highly everyone speaks of Camrock.. The CrossRocket if a close comparison and the only board coming out this year with Nohang-ups POP. It’s got camber underneath and then the 3d rocker tips start.. The rest of the Nohang-ups boards are called Nohang-ups Rocker and that basically is flat underneath instead of camber. which I read up about and people are saying is good for park (presses, butters and rail) but not the best for Jumps and that’s my main focus..
But the CrossRocket is completely new so it’s going to be hard finding out how it is compared to the rest especially with the different camber profile..
Comparing it to TBT though I don’t know there is a lot of people that stand by that tech boards like The Evil Twin are always being top rated in that category so I don’t know how this 3d stuff will compare but I’m interested… Not sure of I’m interested enough to pick one up instead of a TBT board but I never know
Marketing buzzword bullshit detector: “flat camber” is NOT camber.
No it’s not “camber” by definition. But it’s the words used to describe what it is. No one’s trying to trick anyone here, it’s not like they’re trying to make you think it’s something different. “Flat camber” is just how we refer to the fact the base of the board is flat. The same way we call rocker “reverse camber”. Everyone knows what “flat camber” is referring to, it’s not a marketing buzzword, just a description.
Lol I think we all on the same page about the flat “board” “camber profile” “base” whatever you wanna call it now lets get down to some useful info
Guys I’m finally going to take the Bataleon Evil twin out this weekend.. Quick question should I throw some wax on it or just ride with the factory stuff I’m assuming it comes waxed out of the factory no ??
It has a factory belt wax. Unless you can clearly see dry patches, just ride it, and even then, just ride it anyway. You’re not going to notice any difference waxing it.
Thanx thought I’d ask, there’s no dry spots so I won’t mess with it
I bought a TBT board and it wasn’t what I was after so I sold it.
However, if a TBT style board is what you want, why not go with the original?
Bataleon created TBT and have been making all their boards with it for years and years. And now also under the name Lobster. So why not stick with the guys who have all the experience making it?
Rome are a good brand, BUT this is their first crack at this type of board.
Also (and I’m just speculating cause I haven’t ridden one yet) I feel like a Bataleon would be more stable in a press/butter than the rome. The whole triangle nose thing seems like it would push you off the side of a rail more than a nice flat surface. Just a thought, not proven.
First off i have to say that I’m not a newbie when it comes to mounting bindings that said..
Had to share this because when is happen I was about to go nuts… I got my 2012/2013 Batalen Evil Twin a few weeks back checked it out and put it away till I take it out well I was planning on taking it out tomorrow.. I was putting on my bindings and I put all for screws in the holes loose then started to slowly tighten them down and all where going on great up to the point when I was tightening down all the way then I noticed that one screw was tight before all the others and it was not set all the way and sure as shit it wouldn’t move like at all I ended up having to drill into the screw to get my bindings off when I got the bindings off I inspected the screw or what was left of it and the screw was completely straight no angled or anything. I’m having a new new board sent to me and Ride is sending me new mounting hardware for my bindings so I’m set but I have to ask has anyone had any issues with this??
No, never had that. So it was a manufacturers defect? And they gave u warranty for it?
From my Mechanic days I know that a used bolt can have metal debris built up in the thread, this can cause the bolt to seize up and if you keep tightening it can destroy the bolt and insert. But I don’t know enough about what happened here.
So do u think one of their inserts was stuffed?
I don’t know if it was a defect but yeah I got a hold of my retailer and they processed it as a warranty issue.. The holes looked great I always inspect before installing and the screw was completely straight I don’t know what the hell happen but 1 thing I am is a bit nervous putting bindings on now that’s for sure
Sometimes the Thread Lock on the screw can cause the screw to get misaligned a fraction, and once this happens it doesn’t really take much force to thread the screw!!!!!
The inserts are made from a harder material than the screw to insure that the screw thread fails before the inserts!!!!!
I always use the lightest of pressure whenever using new screws for the first time!!!!! If any resistance whatsoever, then unscrew, and go again!!!!!
I didn’t use any pressure in the beginning only used slight force to tighten and that’s when this happen its weird because the screw was going in fine the out of no where it’s stuck.. I’m just worried about this happening again with the new EVIL TWIN
All the time with new gear, and some older gear too. Once you notice a screw is off - either it’s wonky or tightens too early, then pull it out and do it again. If it still happens, then crank that shit down and forget about the pre threads - sometimes they haven’t been made right and formed properly, so you can break through that section.
