If you have the room I would bring the rock board.  It might just be me but half of the fun of early and late season riding is riding everything but the snow.  There are lots of natural rock wall rides and that good stuff, plus if you dont want to download early and late season you can sometimes make your way down by riding across dirt patches that are between the patches of snow.
Also the added bonus of having a spare board if you damage your good one mid-season can be super convenient.

Just my 2cents though

The Nintendo Terrain Parks—What’s new for 2012.13

The Nintendo Terrain Parks on Whistler Blackcomb are starting to take form and with recent snowfalls, 70 million gallons of water converted into snow, and 30+ cm of new snow expected over the weekend the Rangers are ready for opening day. New this year, The Nintendo Terrain Parks will have park specific snow cats, plus tons of new features including an expert battleship rail. Opening Day is November 17th and the Parks crew will have a small park offering with a few jibs off of the top of the Emerald Express.

Yeah I’ll echo the point wssc made about the rock board. I know in previous seasons I’ve been very careful early on as I’ve been worried about damaging my new boards and wish I’d taken my rock board over. If you’re happy to just take it easy then you could get away with just the one board.

And again as wssc said it’s always a bonus to have a 2nd board just in case you need to put your board in for repairs (this will happen at some stage or another).

Man, packing must be one of the worst activities in existence.
Getting excited though, a few more days and I’m on the plane.

For those of you in Whistler already, how are the temperatures? Is it nice out during the day?

To be honest packing is one of my favourite tasks now since you suddenly get the reality check that you’re leaving for a season.

Temps in the village through the coming days look to vary from highs of +3 to lows of -10 so a pretty wide range there. Just keep an eye on the valley forecasts on the WB website. Either way it’ll be a shock to the system if you’re coming from Australia.

Hell yeah it will be shock to the system, up here in Brisbane the weather is picture perfect at the moment, but hey, I won’t be complaing about swapping the boardies for a jacket, pants and snowboard
