Ahhh, has Windows got a default reader like Mac????? (Preview)
The Adobe Acrobat Reader will not do it, yeah????? Have to have the full version as huma said!!!!!
No default reader but a huge amount of free options available for reading and even a few free options for creation.
i use cutepdf for free creation @ home

If it’s her own pdf she has created in the first place I would really recommend she just compresses the images properly before the pdf creation process.
If not I recall she works in the education system and we have acrobat pro preinstalled on all computers and it’s available to staff at a huge discount.

I have a PDF I want to upload but it is twice the allowable attachment limit. How can you compress a PDF? I tried uploading it to photobucket in case i could save it as slightly lower quality or as a jpeg or something there but it wouldn’t work. hints?
I generally recommend compressing/resizing any images before actually inserting them into the PDF which will dramatically cut the size down with minimal quality loss. You won’t gain much if anything by zipping/raring a pdf.

ok the pdf is magazine page that I scanned ages ago and saved it as the PDF.
I have Adobe Reader X. Couldn’t see any option to save as anything smaller in that program.
I tried opening it in photoshop and saving it as a jpeg, but the smallest file size I could get was 600kb and the attachment limit where I’m trying to upload it is 500kb!
Paste the jpeg int o word and then compress it.
What version of word do you use and I will talk you through the steps.

Yeah Reader won’t do it, ya have to have the full version of Acrobat I’m pretty sure!!!!!

1. Re-create the PDF to reduce PDF file size
A handy trick for reducing PDF file size is to re-create or ‘re-fry’ your PDF. By creating the PDF again you can strip out plenty of unwanted objects, remove tags, and compress images further. You can do this with any tool that supports ‘print to PDF’ functionality. For this trick I’ll use the free free PrimoPDF print driver.
Open the PDF file
Open the Print dialog
Select PrimoPDF from the list of printers
On the PrimoPDF dialog, click eBooks. (Or to manually control the level of downsampling, choose Custom.)
Click OK.
