I wonder how much Stephanie was paid to say that?
I wonder how much the Andreu’s were paid to say what they said?
See how that works?
I wonder what more Armstrong has to lose by not admitting the truth?????
Still, I probably could have defined this statement more clearly*:
From what I hear, Lance only did it regularly when necessary, same as everyone else - after his cancer, not before.
From what I hear, Lance’s systematic drug use occurred “after his cancer, not before”.
He wasn’t a genuine GC contender prior to his cancer, so systematic drug wasn’t as “necessary”.
*(sometimes I make the mistake of assuming a certain level of contextual knowledge among those to whom I am addressing - and a certain level of intelligence)
No it didn’t!!!!!
He says he never took drugs!!!!!
by the time i get home from work this thread will be CLOSED… lol
A question to u chucky, or anyone else
what do you define as doping?
Also if u go beck years do u think arnie should pay beck all he won in mr Olympia.
Just asking…
what do you define as doping?
In the context of bicycle racing, the systematic use of performance enhancing drugs.
I don’t really recognise one-off or infrequent usage as “doping” - just as I don’t consider someone who snorts the occasional line or smokes the occasional joint to be a “junkie”.
Hence my assertion that Lance only engaged in “doping” after his cancer - as there wasn’t the immediate need until he became a genuine GC contender. That’s not to say that only GC contenders engage in doping, far from it - just that it only becomes systematic once a rider reaches a certain level of accomplishment and/or potential.
Olympia is in the IFBB bodybuilding federation which don’t drug test so no Arnie wouldn’t be stripped, it’s widely known all of the IFBB athletes at the Olympia are juiced up to the eyeballs. I think Nabba is one federation that actually tests as it’s sposed to be natural bodybuilding so ppl that are caught, and it happens all the time, are stripped of their titles.
It’s kind of to the point where even if Lance was systematically doping to win so the fark was everyone else so he was the best regardless. Chucky the rules of cycling don’t really agree with your personal take in regards to doping, do it once or do it everyday, you’re busted, they don’t really have shades of grey. It’s all a bit of a wank and none of this has really diminished his achievements in my eyes, my own personal opinion is that they all do it so what does it really matter.

Spot on, mate.
Sadly, that kind of realistic thinking doesn’t satisfy the public’s appetite for indignant sanctimony - so they need a tall poppy to cut down, to make them feel better about themselves.

True indeed. My personal take more closely reflects that of the riders themselves.
The UCI doesn’t take much notice of “the rules of cycling” either - turning a blind eye is more their style. Of course, when called to account by the mainstream media, it’s an entirely different story. Then their attention turns to PR damage control and throwing the same riders under the bus that they’d previously ‘taken care of’.
It’s all a bit of a wank . . .
That it is.

Well, they all did it back then. It’s gradually changing, but that doesn’t alter the fact that Lance should be judged by what it was like back then, NOT now.
Maybe we should erase all cycling history from 1990 to 2007? See the 2013 tour route? It is hectic!
Hehe, ONLY from 1990???
Yeah, next year’s route will be sweet! My money’s on Chris Froome.
hes good but not that good. its going to be a contador schleck tour, with a bit of cadel in third
Yeah, next year’s route is more suited to Cadel than this year’s, and I agree that Contador and Schlek are the favourites - but I still see Froome as the dark horse. I just reckon he had a lot more in the tank this year - and unshackled by his Wiggins obligations, he’ll REALLY have something to prove.
Well, it’s actually more of a nostalgic wish than anything totally rational. A few years after I started following the Tour, I witnessed the legendary LeMond/Hinault battles and that got me hooked for life. It was nowhere near as intense, but the Froome/Wiggins tension brought back memories.
Ten questions Oprah Winfrey will probably ask Lance Armstrong.
1 Have the past few months been crazy, emotional, frightening and full of lots of scandalous – truly scandalous – lies that sadly you can’t talk about right now for legal reasons?
2 Would you like to see an uplifting montage of slow-motion footage of you looking triumphant and sad, soundtracked by Love Lift Us Up Where We Belong by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes?
3 If you feel the need to cry, or even make your voice wobble a little like you’re going to cry but instead fight back those tears and take a breath and keep right on with what you were saying because dammit you’re better than this and you owe it to not just the world but to yourself to tell this story then do you think, Lance, that you might be best just giving in to it?
4 Do you by any chance have a folksy anecdote about something your father said to you when you were a very small boy, perhaps while sitting on a porch or playing catch in the back yard? You do?
5 Would you like to talk for quite a long time about what Being An American means to you?
6 Is there a sense that perhaps a lot of people have always been jealous of your success? That maybe there was and remains a lot of jealousy out there, a lot of European jealousy, a British press-led European conspiracy of jealousy? Do you think, Lance, that might be a possibility? I’m just putting it out there.
7 Looking back, how badly did the death of your dog when you were seven years old affect you? Looking at this picture of your dog can you feel the tears welling up, the anger coming out? Can you feel the tears for your dog? Would you like to reach out and pat the dog? Pat the dog, Lance. Cry. Cry and pat the dog.
8 Do you by any chance have plans for a nationwide tour of schools speaking about the dangers of caring too much, falling foul of the temptations of others, being at the wrong end of a vast sporting witch-hunt and basically not learning to love yourself enough?
9 How about a new book too? Possibly something in big type with lots of pictures called Lance: My Longest Journey or Lance: A New Hope or perhaps just Lance: I Suffered For Your Sins?
10 Shall we hug now?

9. What about - Lance, the Boil on my Backside - ?????
