The GP3 looks pretty awesome. Might have to upgrade from my original GP.
I’m tempted to see what the alternatives are and since I won’t be able to get anything until the new year etc, I’ll decide then.
If GP come out with a decent pole option (with a swivel mount) I’d be on that shiznit.
Until then, I might have to find a way to attach the GP to the motorbike and get some footage of me riding
They have a bike handle mount, and if that is too small get the roll bar mount, same thing just bigger..
They make the poles for gopro.. That’s going to be one of my upcoming purchases =)
http://www.sportscamera.com.au make all kinds of sweet gopro poles. Local sydney company and good prices.
Do most peeps just ignore the posts about me building PoleCam’s and mounts and offering them at next to no profit?
Made to order based on your requirements - and if my product is good enough for the likes of Network Ten and ABC and used for shooting Australian champion motorX, GoKart and Drag-racing I’m sure they are good enough for BWM.
I think the problem here is that I price my product in line with GoPole (and the like) instead of the equivalent product which is sold online upwards of $150.
Add to that how I have been building them longer than some action cam companies have existed and it was GoPro and VIO who followed my success in using such systems to design their own.
And I’m always available for services.
And I cover warranty when manufacturers knock people back (or I step up and convince the manufacturer to honour warranty).
h0z you are exempt from this rant (since your new)
BUT TJ! sheeesh maaan! I’ve been pushing the Drift monopod that has a swivel head and optional GoPro mount for almost a year!
I’ve designed and built my own swivel head that I connect to various pole types (including a 4 part extendable pole with LED light set up) that was in the room we shared at the shred and I have purpose built road bike mounts for other customers.
Where’s the love? I ask.
Local? LOCAL! What’s more local than a regular boardworld contributor who gives free advice and offers huge discounts, home delivers (or invites members to their own home) and regularly gives stuff away and hosts contest on Boardworld at their own expense?
Fair enough I’ve been a little preoccupied over the last 2 years to market my business but it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
And again I’ll mention (since I’m on a roll) I SELL HEADCAMS and without a shop I really need BWM support (I haven’t forgotten the one customer you sent my way Tj).
Stopping to breath now
I’ve been communicating with some big name manufacturers in the ActionCam world asking for any hint of how they are responding to GP3.
While they are hesitant to disclose too much - they are confident to say they can compete with current and future products and don’t seem overly concerned about the GP3 release.
Like any new product I’m happy to wait and see how GP3 performs in the real world. I haven’t seen much from that camera that hasn’t been filted through GoPro first.
And will this mean the price of good 1080p camera’s will drop to the sub $200 mark? there are already 720p, glass lens, good quality camera’s in that price range. The GP3 White Edition will sell for $269 (same specs as HERO - not HERO2)
The Silver Edition GP3 (same specs as HERO2) is $379. Even though HERO2 is still $399.
I don’t see GoPro sales increasing much in the immediate future apart from pre-order sales of GP3, retailers will want to get rid of old stock (keep an eye out for bargains) and any new sales (of none GP3) will be ordered in at time of sale.
GP3 has good low light performance but few people appreciate what difficulties 4K or 120fps will present to consumers. eg: 4K video will use (about) 2GB per min so don’t forget to add the cost of a memory card to the $469 price tag.
If you want to confidently shoot 15mins of 4K video it will cost at least $550.
120fps 1080p? About the same.
After the buzz of the current GoPro HD Hero3 fanfare is over I think a door will open for the other brands to increase sales.
Remembering the important points consumers are looking at;
1) Marketing
2) Video quality
3) Price
4) Availability
hey Spaz, do you have a pic of aforementioned pole mount? and whats the pricing like? (my options are entirley open at this stage, and if yours is like the gopole.. i will definately consider it! ) also whats the weight of it? - my freind is an industrial spray painter and he painted us some poles to put our handle bar mount on, but damn they are heavy.. they feel like a trolley pole!! hahaha and would be more for knocking some one out than filming a board run.. :/
Bucky Lasek took this photo of himself with the GoPro HERO3 using the WiFi remote, which he is holding in his right hand.

Lookin forward to seein heaps more footage, pics and reviews!!!!!
that looks sweet assess
Spaz, I haven’t fully read the post you put there yet.
I got the pole for my current GP and one for someone else for xmas.
If I get the GP3 (no equiv in the works by the time that comes out) then it will work there as well.
I fully appreciate all the work you are putting into your drift selling, but if they don’t have a similar product, I will go with what’s available.
By the time I get a new camera it won’t be till minimum June next year or January 2014 (Before Sochi).
here is a bit of a comparison of the hardware of GP2 and GP3 by a NoHe kayaker.
Plenty of pics

That gives “taking a shelfy” a whole new meaning
Started a new topic with some photos included.
Do most peeps just ignore the posts about me building PoleCam’s and mounts and offering them at next to no profit?
Ummm, after reading that rant, I would guess YES
OK, as a consumer, this is what I want. (when buying this type of product)
1. To go to a good website, with lots of product to compare.
2. A phone number I can ring to ask questions.
3. Reasonable pricing, lets face it, a quick google sorts out what we should be paying for product.
4. Secure check out - Paypal
5. Fast delivery
6. A phone number I can ring if there are problems.
I bet if you set up a website with what you sell, Paypal account checkout, advertise through the many free channels, you will find find your sales will increase.
Promote how great your service, pre and after sales is.
There are 50 odd ‘hardcore’ BWM’s on here, most know you personally. The rest of the traffic through, will after reading the above posts, think you are some weirdo from a forum trying to flog stuff off.
Customers, or potential customers don’t like to be lectured.
You have in the past, bagged out Gopro. Sorry to say, your potential customer base, some which have owned earlier Gopro’s take your advice as an attack on their decision to buy Gopro.
YOU know cameras, you need to rethink how you teach people why one product is better / different!!!
When it comes to business / selling stuff there is generally choice.
We want you to succeed, but I can tell you that your approach leaves a little to be desired.
Sorry for ranting
