Lance Armstrong stripped of his seven titles

what kind of mixed bag of message are we sending out to kids??

Crucify ‘tall poppies’ but ignore the rest? That seems to be the general consensus lately.

Everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that professional road cycling is a team sport. Neither Lance nor any other GC contender has ANY hope at all of winning a major tour without the help of their team. The likelihood of any team not having at least one member on the juice is virtually NIL. Therefore, the WHOLE sport is in question, NOT just specific individuals. Sadly, logical facts like that don’t boost TV ratings or sell newspapers, so hysterical sensationalism reigns supreme.

They rekon that something like 80% of the peleton were on the drugs back then. Its a USADA witch hunt. I dont like it one bit that he has gone down.  but after officially losing his tour de france titles yesterday, I cannot defend the guy any longer, Even though I think the whole sport is corrupt and lance is just what the media is turning their attention too . . .

Many people say they “feel cheated” by what Lance did. I don’t - because I know he was racing against people who were doing the exact same thing. He didn’t force anyone else to do anything against their will. That’s just what the whistleblowers want you to believe, because it takes the focus off themselves and makes them look less guilty. Many of these people hardly had “nothing to gain” by ‘coming clean’ and setting Lance up as the fall guy. It’s no coincidence, for example, that Tyler Hamilton’s book was scheduled to launch at the same time as all this. Look out for many more ‘tell all’ exposés from people who had ‘nothing to gain’ from telling ‘their side’ of the story. Lance is the classic tall poppy scapegoat, and the real ‘bullies’ will reap the rewards of their underhanded actions - all the way to the top of the best seller lists.

Scapegoat or tall poppy, I don’t feel sorry for him. He denied doping to people’s faces (see article I posted earlier) but now it turns out he did. If he didn’t dope in the first place, he wouldn’t have a problem. I’m glad his doping and lying have come back to bite him in the butt - you reap what you sow.

Drug use in cycling was about as widespread as speed suit use in swimming - and gave about the same, or perhaps less, advantage. Just like a racing cyclist friend of mine said in his Facebook status a while ago:

“To all the self-righteous prats out there: please understand this, the difference between a donkey & a racehorse IS NOT a pharmaceutical leap.”

Everyone’s always looking for a performance advantage, and will generally go with whatever’s on offer. Some swimmers publicly denounced the use of speed suits - but ended up using them nevertheless, because they would have been at a performance DISadvantage if they didn’t.

Ummmmmmm, yeah, so the ‘story’ goes.

Because it’s not like anyone else would lie to save their own skin, right?

And they admit to using them!!!!!

It’s just some people can’t bring themselves to tell the truth!!!!!

It would be like an Olympic Swimmer standing on the blocks wearing a speed suit, and when asked if they thought that it was fair, they replied “Speed Suit, I’ve never worn a Speed Suit”!!!!!

So you have no problem with what Julia Gillard did in regards to the Carbon Tax then?????

After all, she was only doing what she needed to do in order to secure the position of Prime Minister!!!!!
