Now Bindings

If you look on a top sheet of any board, over time the bindings leave topsheet damage. Its just gonna happen with wear and tear. I thinkif anything, the NOW would leave less because there is the padding where the contact points are.

Where have you heard this? And were they talking about cosmetic or structural damage?

I wasn’t referring to normal wear because as soon as you put any binding on a board you get wear. From what was briefly discribed to me was about the bushings under the binding causing damage to the board and I was told : “stay away from those bindings” now I do not want to mention who told me because I dont want to stur things up and the more I think about it the more I believe that I was told this because of what these bindings will do to the competition. Figured what better place to clear things up then righ here

Yeh fair enough. smile

Realistically, all bindings are putting pressure on the structure of the board. Pulling up and torsionally at the binding inserts, and down on the toe and heal edges.

At the end of the day, all this “new” tech is 60% marketing - 40% function.

Now bindings typically for backcountry??? how so? I mean I know thats where you can definitely get the best out of them but do you think I will have issues in the park ? jumps and all, I got Ride Maestros if need be but I wanted to try the NOW bindings out in all conditions meaning park (jumps mostly), groomer and of course backcountry any objections here?

Burton have already done that with their 2012 and 2013 EST bindings - Diode, Malavita, Genesis all have ‘The Hinge’ which gives lateral movement.

Im not a fan of Burton well their boards atleast but that is some sweet tech i gotta say very good idea especially for the park, gotta be burton to make it and only make it on their EST bindings that sucks so basically you gotta buy a burton board to experience the tech or have you guys figured out a way to out EST bindings on other snowboards? do tell

because I would be interested as long as I can us it with a Bataleon board

Hey guys I got the Now Bindings in a few days ago, I ended up going with the L because according to the size chart for a US size 10 (EUR 43) that is the binding for me but when I got the bindings I ran into a few issues.  First I footbed was about 1cm longer then the boot strapped in. Second when centered on the board with boot the footbed actually stuck out past the edge just around 2 cm on the toe side edge on my Hovercraft and a lil more on my Banana Magic.  I ended up getting the bindings in a M and now the boot is about 3cm longer then the footbed and no overhang on the board. The M seems like a perfect fit for the size 10 boot. also after trying out several reg width boards it seems that if you are going to go with Large Now Bindings you should be going with a wide board.

I can’t wait to try these out, still waiting on Yes. The Greats to complete the setup but I bet these are going to rock on the Hovercraft too in that super deep pow.

Looks good, Lester. Are the footbeds adjustable at all, i.e. do they slide forwards and backwards? I can’t remember.

What are those two little adjustment dials(well the look like dials) just inside of the pad on the bottom right of that picture?

nope no adjustment

The adjustment will be in the disc!!!!!

That’s the date stamp!!!!! One’s the month, the others the year!!!!!

Those three screws on the bottom near the toes… what do they do? Are you sure they aren’t to adjust the toe ramp?

just to let you guys know, burton reflex bindings (which can be used on non-burton boards) have the same natural flex that is given to the est bindings with the hinge. The difference comes from where the bolts are. So, you don’t need to curse B anymore for trying to make you buy their boards

They’re the date/time setting dials for the Flux Capacitor - but they only come into play when you hit 88 miles per hour.

I might be wrong, but if there’s a gas pedal that’s got too much adjustment in it, it would probably change the dynamics of the hinge, by not having the pivot point centered in relation to your boot!!!!!

That’s why, it probably best to have the right size foot bed to boot size possible, in order to keep the boot centered?????
