Is that Boarders?
Balmoral Boards in Narrabeen.
I’ll have to check it out, Boarders in Brookvale do al ot of DC according to their web store
Sorry for hijacking your thread Andy
I has watching a few reviews online and they said it is still a really poppy board still so i don’t know. Can’t argue with your reasoning, especially when I have no idea.
I think i mostly jump off both feet though, I am still learning how to ollie/nollie whilst moving, so i think i use a bit of both feet to add to my jumping. if that makes sense?
Yep, that makes total sense. Even if you do know how to ollie/nollie, the pop (off both feet) is still your go to move for jumping. It’s the most stable way to jump. I still pop all the time. So a board with lots of pop is always desirable. It gives you some suspension too.
I have read reviews that say a flat board has heaps of pop??? That makes zero sense and is incorrect. What the reviewer is feeling is pressure building up and release from the tail or nose. We call this “Snap”.
So people that say a flat or almost flat board is really poppy… really shouldn’t be doing reviews
Now don’t get me wrong, I think flat boards are my 2nd favourite profile (next to camber). But I think you’ve got it dead right mate. You’re still learning to ollie, so having a board that pops well is exactly what you want.
You could also go the other way with it too. Get on a pure Rocker. They pop from the middle of the board where the rocker is, and they are super loose and catch free, which is sweet for trying new tricks. Just a thought.
I think this board is for me next! depending on the width.
The Good Vs Evil
SUPER SOFT MELLOW REVERSE CAMBER PARK SHREDDER
Sizes 145, 147, 151 & 155!
I am looking at getting the 2013 Ride DH2, just keen a few opinions first.
Its in the 158 which is bigger than my current 156.
Fusion 4000 Base [sintered]
Hybrid Twin Camber - Rocker on the nose/tail and a micro camber between feet.
Flex - 7 out of 10
Thoughts?
Cheers…
Not sure if you are still looking for opinions, but I rode the 2012 DH2 all year and It should be similar to the 2013. I had a lot of fun on the board, it is stiff but fast and stable and when hitting jumps I got decent pop and it felt great to land and ride out. you have to work quite hard to do tail presses and butters as it is quite stiff. I also found it was difficult to spin but it might have been because it was 160. It is also pretty forgiving if you catch an edge, I found you can ride out of it most times. I thought it was a great board, throughout the year it saw abit of aussie powder, groomers, jumps and jibs and went well all round.
Just highlighting Andy’s point about a rocker, I demoed a rocker at the shred and progressed my spins and butters much easier And faster than on the DH2. That was a 156 stepchild latchkey and when I jumped back on the DH2 it felt a bit cumbersome in comparison when doing the same tricks.
Love the new deck Andy.. looks the goods and sounds exactly what you’ve been talking of getting for a while now.
Cheers dude, it’s not even the new one. It’s actually the 2012 model. But I have been trying to track this particular board down for SO LONG, I’m stoked I finally got my hands on one in my size. The only thing I would change about this board would be a sintered base instead of an extruded one. But this is as close as I can get to my “ideal board” for my level of riding right now.
Board insiders gave it rave reviews and the gold medal thing they put on their favourite boards. So I’m hoping that it’s really going to kick some ass!

Im liking Fyve’s 2013 range
Yep, I’m super keen to get on a Fyve board next season.
I’m super keen to get on a Fyve board next season.
Their 2013 range looks super solid!!!
Thanks for the help guys. I think I am better off sticking with my Crew for a while longer. Try and demo as many boards as I can early in the season.
Yep, there’s nothing better than demoing lots of boards and then choosing your favourite. There are so many variables to which board suits which person.
The board that makes you ride like a boss, is usually going to be the one for you.
What are you Spec kids thoughts on trying a super soft flexy style board. I am beginning to realise that I am never going to be busting stuff of massive kickers anyway so the little stuff is where I am going to be doing most of my riding on-piste. I have a few other boards to use if I ever need something stiffer but a super flexy board seems appealing to me at this point (having never ridden one though). I really need to demo a board that has a flex of 2/10 or some such.
Do it man. A super soft board will obviously let you butter and press. But it’s also going to be the most maneuverable in the small park.
And if you get all that in a pure rocker it will be catch free for trying lots of new tricks and getting used to landing spins etc. When I rode rockers, I think it was the best choice for me in that stage of my riding.
If you do go to a pure rocker, can I recommend the Arbor Draft. It’s the softer version of a board that I owned recently.
It’s pure rocker, super flexy, bronze edges so you will never catch an edge on a box/rail. And Arbors motto is “Rockers that work” and they really do.
I don’t like a lot of rockers but Arbors widen out under the feet to hold a better edge and make them less washy then most rockers.
My last rocker was an Arbor Westmark which is the next step up from the Draft. Same thing but steel edges and medium-soft flex. Both are really good boards. But if you want a board thats super butter and loads of fun, go the Draft. Also a lot of Arbor’s riders compete on the Draft so you know you will be able to advance with this, not outgrow it.

I think the new Fyve range is amazing. Graphics are great just the shapes and sizes will be the decider. I don’t really need a board as my Forum could be retired for collectors hehehe company deaded.
