Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing issues with Google Chrome and Adobe Flash? I’m using a Mac by the way.
A few weeks ago, pages stopped loading properly, i.e. freezing, not being able to click any links. Also if I went to a YouTube video, the sound would play but the video wouldn’t show and the whole screen would freeze.
I did a bit of research and found out with a problem with the Adobe Flash plugin. I made sure I was using the latest version of Flash and Chrome (all updated). Still having the same problems. I have now disabled the Flash plugin completely and the problems have stopped, however obviously I can’t watch any videos or access Flash content. It’s getting pretty annoying and I’m jumping between different browsers to get everything done.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Try resetting chrome to default settings:
The file path:
Users—> Your User Folder—> AppData (this might be a hidden folder if you aren’t admin)—> Local—> Google—> Chrome—> Default
The folder “Default” contains all of the requisite settings. To reset Chrome, close it and change the folder name of “Default” to anything else…“Default old” or “Default broken” or whatever else you like. Once you reopen Chrome it will be reset!
If you want to retain some settings (especially things like bookmarks and login info) you can copy (don’t just move them because they should be kept intact as backups; copy them) those files into your new Default folder any time that Chrome is closed.
Otherwise, try removing Flash and re-installing. Same with Chrome.
Another option is to reset your chrome account:
Go to - Options - Personal Stuff - Users - Delete User.
If you are the only chrome user, you will be the only user in the list. Click on “DELETE THIS USER” and viola…. You have reset Google Chrome to default settings.
All your addons, settings will restore to defaut.
This was what I wanted.
WHY are you using Google Chrome, Jez???
Cheers TJ.
I like Chrome, chucky. Seems to suit me the best. I’m not a big fan of Firefox or Safari. I still use them on occasion but I prefer Chrome.
i use chrome as well and had a wee bit of trouble with shockwave flash crashing? assuming it is the same problem that you’re having, Jez. I prefer chrome to firefox as well.
Are ya runnin the latest OS Jez?????
Cheers TJ.

Yeah, I get that.
It’s just that due to the uneasy relationship between Apple and both Google and Adobe, it’s always going to be a bumpy road.
Never had an issue until now.
You’ve always had issues!!!!!
TJ, I deleted the current user, so everything should be back to default. I also exported all my bookmarks as an HTML file. Not here’s the thing: I can’t work out how to import these bookmarks. All the options available from Chrome are to import from other browsers etc., but not option to import an HTML file.
Any ideas?
All good, worked it out.
Winner. Is it fixed?
So far so good. Thanks mate.
