New Boards For Next Season

Avatar

My new board just arrived today! SO EXCITED! I don’t know how I’m going to wait almost 2 months to ride it!  drool
And just before I get a verbal bashing shock , yes I bought it online, but only because I know the aussie distributor and he didn’t order any of these at all. And there are none in the country… so screw it, I bought it online. But I still shop local when ever possible.

I was thinking everyone should throw up a pick of any new board (or bindings) you get in this thread.

So check it out - The Arbor Relapse 159.
Pure Camber, true twin, Mid-wide, medium-soft flex and like all Arbors, dead sexy. I have seriously high expectations for this thing.

I’ve posted this elsewhere on the forums, but this is my new baby specifically for my upcoming Japan trip!

Flat Kick with Rockered Nose, Tapered, Setback, Sintered, ready to slash some POW!

I am looking at getting the 2013 Ride DH2, just keen a few opinions first.

Its in the 158 which is bigger than my current 156.

Fusion 4000 Base [sintered]

Hybrid Twin Camber - Rocker on the nose/tail and a micro camber between feet.

Flex - 7 out of 10

Thoughts?

Cheers…

Image isn’t from place of purchase btw, just a google search. Not buying from the UK smile

NL, do you like a stiffer board? I tested the DH2 last season in Whistler and I found it to be quite stiff. I don’t mind a stiffish board but the DH2 was stiffer than I like to ride. Great board though, so it comes down to personal preference. I would just say be aware about the stiffer flex.

Thanks Rider.

I ride a Sierra Crew atm which is quite a stiff board, which i enjoy for a bit of back country boarding. I have only ridden a 152 Ride Agenda which was nearly twice as flexi as my Crew and I thought it was a bit washy.

Did you find it to have a nice bit of pop? They have changed the pop rods on this model, they are now located in the walls.

I only rode it for a few runs, so I didn’t really notice anything out of the ordinary other than the flex. Have you ridden any boards with softer flex patterns? What are you using the board for mainly? Softer boards are more forgiving and can be more fun to ride.

I haven’t really found what I prefer yet as this season was the first year I really caught the snow bug and I only got 10 days in [4 of those were half days] so with a season pass next year and 9 days a month off, hopefully I will be able to answer that. I mostly enjoy just making my own way down the mountain, jumping off what ever bumps i can find and over rocks, trees etc. Last day of my season this year, I started learning rails and boxes which was fun as well.

The two boards above are the only ones I have ridden, I have no idea what board would suit me really so I might be better off waiting till I can maybe demo some boards next year.

Hey NL
I haven’t ridden the DH2 but I was looking at it in stores. Probably a good board if you like a stiffer flex.

The reason i didn’t get it (and this is totally just my personal preference), it’s really close to flat, but not quite.

Flat boards are great for being able to do everything, not very catchy and easy to butter.
The down side is the is zero pop when jumping off both feet, only snap from the tail/nose.

Having a camber that is almost flat means that you still get almost no pop. But the camber makes it slightly harder to butter and slightly more catchy.
Why would they do that?

K2 make a board called the Fastplant. It’s flat with rockered tips. That might be a better option if that’s the type of profile you want. More pluses, less minuses.
But hey, I haven’t ridden it so maybe there is method behind the madness somewhere that I don’t know about.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Andy smile

I has watching a few reviews online and they said it is still a really poppy board still so i don’t know. Can’t argue with your reasoning, especially when I have no idea.

I think i mostly jump off both feet though, I am still learning how to ollie/nollie whilst moving, so i think i use a bit of both feet to add to my jumping. if that makes sense?

Would love one of the new Fyve snowboards or a Lobster. I might wait though still have two boards which need more running in.

Was talking to the guys at Balmoral the other day and they mentioned that the new DC boards are due in December, so early, might hang out till then and see if I like any of them.
