The STOKE thread

wholey shit balls!!!!

I am a very privileged girl! (not feeling great enough to say lucky!)

A family friend of ours owns a car dealership and has looked after me from time to time.

My parents called him last week and said if a bomb of a car comes in the dealership as a trade in to call me before the auctions (or whatever they do with bomb cars!)

Well that day came quicker than expected!

A 1998 Subaru Forrester (suddenly I think those cars are cool! LOL)

I don’t know much about it except it has been written off in a past life and its green.

But its is mine for the small sum of $1500!!!! (obviously not what it would be worth on the street!)

Stoked for you!

Hopefully all goes well and it was written off due to something away from the motor region.

Foresters are okay but find them not sexy! LOL

Silver Forrester - boring family car IMO

Nice one oz! Is he going to throw the hubby and kids in as part of the deal??  tongue rolleye

Might be worth finding out why it was written off, it can sometimes cause issues with future insurance etc (not that you would be too worried on a $1500 car)

Haha! DRC - I knew someone would throw that in my face!

Which is why I put my disclosure in!

I do not know car why it was written off - but I will say that the guy who is selling it to me treats me like a daughter and would never sell me a lemon or something that wasn’t safe no matter how cheap it was or how desperate I was!

ahhh i see. I’m sure it is probably something minor. My ‘94 impreza was ‘written off’ because of the most minor hail damage. Who wants to pay comprehensive insurance anyway? I doubt I’ll ever own a car that makes it worth my money to have comprehensive….I know there are other reasons for having it but that is just how I feel about it.

That definitely is a bargain. How many kms does it have on the clock? We got our ‘98 limited forester (I think they are cool, thanks very much!)  wink  for $4900, with 120K on the clock, roof racks, tow bar, really nicely kept and that is a massive bargain as it was. Others with way more kms & worse condition go for at least $6000.

You’ve definitely got yourself a nice deal there.

I think there is nothing wrong with the car - I think it was repaired.

Just found out it is an auto :-( Oh well!

I wouldn’t be too worried about it being an auto, much easier in Sydney Traffic, might be a little more thirsty on Hwy cause of the gearing but overall it’s wheels and it hopefully will provide you A to B transport without dramas.

Thats a steal oz.. gotta be happy about that.

Oh yes traffic in an auto is much nicer!
