The sun sets on the inaugural Vans BOWL–A-RAMA NYC 2012
New York City saw the who’s who of the skateboarding world for both Pro’s and Master’s divisions as they turned up the heat for the inaugural Vans BOWL-A-RAMA™ NYC at Hudson River Park’s Pier 62 Skatepark.
In true BOWL-A-RAMA style the skateboardinggods held off the rain so that NYC witnessed history in the making as the best skate legends in the world came together with the next generation for the first ever Vans BOWL-A-RAMA NYC.
The newest addition to the awards ceremony was the Spirit of Kessler Award in honor of the late Andy Kessler. The award was for any rider across the whole competition that best exemplified Andy’s spirit in their skating and general stoke. The legendary George Orton took out the award that was selected by Kessler’s oldest and best friend Puppet and had skaters and the spectators in an ovation.
The Pro’s and Masters were tight with Teenage Brazilian skateboarding sensation and now seventime BOWL-A-RAMA™ winner Pedro Barros taking out first place for the Pro division, closely followed by 14 year old and Red Bull team mate Alex Sorgente, and in third place was Ben Hatchell.
In the Masters division Lance Mountain absolutely killed it and come in first with Steve Caballero in second followed by Eddie “Ela Gato” Elbuera in third.
