Looking at heading down to boarders at Brookvale, any Sydney siders checked it out? I’m keen on checking out their DC range. Heard good things about some of their boards, eg Ply & Mega, can anyone shed some light on DC in general?
I want a mega!
I want the mega with the lager? Graphic.
I don’t really like the Mega 159 graphic much but I do like the Ply 159 which leaves me in a bit of a spot.
Nice!
The Mega seems to be a stiffer version of the Ply. DC is a hard company to source info on as they seem to hate having a functional website for their snow gear. The Ply sounds like a sick board (and I plan on getting one as my next park board) but have heard the pop in it doesn’t live up to expectation. Plus I’m not super stoked on the sizes they have available either.
I’ve had my DC HKD for a few years now, and I love it!!!!! Quality construction for sure!!!!!
I will be takin it to Japow with me in Feb!!!!!
Next board, I will def be checkin out the DC range!!!!! MEGA would be my pick, but I like a stiffer board, and I’m 90+kg!!!!!
I was of the impression the ply and the mega are good all round boards for a bit of pow and a bit of park. My sources might be wrong though.
Yeah, Torstein rides the Ply, and he uses it for Rails, Jumps and Powder - just in different sizes (and therefore it will affect the stiffness/pop/stability). It’s all about preference really.
Edit: Finally managed to get the DC website to show the boards again. The other difference is the Mega has a Sintered 7200 base and the ply is 7500
I thought the PLY was extruded 3500 but with the Structurn (gold ball dimples) base?
Yeah Torstein rides the ply last season, this season he rides the Mega mostly.
I thought the PLY was extruded 3500 but with the Structurn (gold ball dimples) base?
Maybe that was the 2012 model? The website is showing the 2013 ones as both sintered 7x00.
Where do you see that skip? I haven’t seen any Pro models for Torstein in the Mega yet. I can’t imagine he’d use it for everything but he might have diversified his quiver and got a Mega for pow or kickers?
The 153.75 is the Torstein Mega pro model and 156.5 (or .25 can’t remember) is Aaron Biittner’s. From the DC catalog and from all the Torstein’s vid on his Vimeo channel. But Torstein also has a 150.5 Ply pro model too.
http://www.zuzupopo.com/xe/catalog/63662 Here’s the DC catalog.
The 153.75 is Bittner’s Pro model. http://www.amazon.com/DC-Aaron-Biittner-153-75-Multi/dp/B006WDPA3G/ref=sr_1_11?ie=UTF8&qid=1349586151&sr=8-11&keywords=dc+pro+snowboard
Bittner also has a 156.5 Pro in the Mega http://www.evo.com/snowboards/dc-aaron-biittner-pro-mega-snowboard.aspx
And Torstein has the 150.5 Pro in a Ply http://www.evo.com/snowboards/dc-torstein-horgmo-pro-ply-snowboard.aspx#utm_campaign=child_EB-60413-1001_odd&utm_source=Amazon&utm_medium=shoppingengine
All seem to be 2013 boards.
Edit: yeah okay I see where you’re getting that pro model for Torstein from - They list it in the catalog and his name is on the board but no one else is calling it Torstein’s pro model. Odd.
Also that whole catalog seems to have been shot at Snow Park with the exception of one picture which is at Cardrona. Not only that but I’m pretty sure none of the pictures are from this season because I don’t think they ever had that much coverage and the tire was in one place all season just over half way up the jib line.
