Just checked this thread for the first time in a while, glad you’re ok oz, accidents are never a fun thing.
Devo: smashed my toe when I was out sailing today… looking pretty swollen and mighty painful now. Just hoping it’s not broken.

You seem fairly injury prone lately finney…
Maybe we should start up a bw fundraiser to get a padded suit made up for you
Like this?
Probably safer if you just spend your time in here
Those bars look pretty metallic Azz, still could get hurt
Sooooo I have a bit of announcement.
Last night I was about 5mins from Jindy (just nth of the dam wall) super happy singing along to tunes when my car started to slide… I couldn’t regain control again. It was not pretty at all.
I 360’d my car then it felt like I rolled it and ended up landing on the drivers side. Freaked out though I was in a ditch. Turned the ignition off then cars were driving past me so I tried to turn it on to use my lights to flash people. (yeah there were no lights left…)
At almost the exact same moment i started rolling Mike called I tried to answer phone when car stopped, then rung him back - told him to come quick. Poor thing I think I was screraming at this point, all he wanted to know was what i wanted at the Bottlo. Rung my parents told them to come. Told them I would call 000. Pretty funny if you think about it. I started giving orders to people. It was really werid it was like I was a patroller dealing with someone else. it was amazing all these instints kicked in. I check myself out. Started thinking about Danger. Knew not to move to wait for help to come (i honestly thought I was in a tree balancing there) Then a guy with a broken arm apeared in front of me and then a few more people (turns out i wasn’t in a ditch and the first couple of cars who drove past did just that I am hoping they thought my car had been ther for a while…) The guy was asking if I was okay and trying to figure out how to get me out. I asked if I was one the ground LOL (funny since he was standing next to my head!)
People helped me out of my car and heaps had stop by this point. They were all really nice. Mike showed up first. All I said was “I need a hug” then I meet his gf for the first time at that moment!
Anyway there is more to the story but the worst thing is I had somehow let me insurnace lapse…. so I just threw away a $11k car :-( (long story that I really don’t want to talk about as I am really angry at myself for this)
Very sorry to hear it, Kim.
As bad as it was, the most important thing is you were not seriously injured. Way better to write off the car than to injure yourself, so please look on the bright side… you are OK! Money comes and goes, cars come and go - your life is what’s precious and irreplaceable.
Please let me know if I can do anything to help.
Thanks Rider & Finney and everyone else.
I know I am very lucky and things could have been worst.
People are coming up to my parents and saying i was very lucky and that that corner is notorious and a young girl only died on that cnr a year ago.
The good news is if I can’t figure out the insurance mess that the guy from Snowline had already been out to see the car and is interested in making an offer to buy whats left. So I wont come away with nothing.
You might be able to get a thousand or 2 for it. If the engine still works and the interior is still nice, there is lots of salvageable parts from it.
And since so many people drive Subaru’s to the snow (with Kangas / Wombats / Other doing serious damage) he can probably make a mint from parts.
