Ohhh thats a good idea DRC!

I have been downloading heaps just sitting here at work!

Going a bit nuts to be honest!

Nice just do that then, that’s how I originally learnt android and it seemed to work out for me.

If you need specific recommendations for stuff though let me know.

Setting/Security/Screen lock

Should give you options like none/slide/face unlock/pattern/pin/password so yeah you have plenty of choices for security smile

Setting/Display/Sleep to adjust screen sleep time.

Google+/Picassa/Google Drive/Dropbox etc can all be used for uploading photos all of which can be done via the built in gallery app.

So I should have fully charged my iPhone before turning it on and using it? teacherboy

it’s no biggie.  As per Apple’s recommendations, just let it run completely down once per month.  This will re-calibrate the smart charging circuitry so your readings will be accurate.  Li-ion batteries don’t have that horrible hysteresis effect that early technologies had, so the battery itself should be fine.

the quick way is to swipe down from the top of the screen to bring up the notifications panel.  There is a button on there for settings.

essential Android apps

Dont have any of those apps and have no interest in them either

you probably need to drill down into the bigger list which is linked at the bottom.  In any case, a lot of those apps are US-centric and don’t really apply here.  Still, it’s a good starting point to get you thinking about what’s out there.

I notice that bar thing at the top and clicked it and went left to right but couldn’t figure it out!

Ohhh and what is a good app to upload photos too?

And how do you get the url of a photo from say instagram to post on boardworld?

I have to use a web browser and go to gramfeed.com but on my iPhone I can’t copy a photo url. I usually download to my phone then upload to photobucket (even for facebook I have to do it).
Maybe there’s a way but I can’t figure it out.

For instagram - still have to use gramfeed.com to copy photo location then paste on my computer.

Yeah, I don’t think that there’s a way to get a pic off Instagram?????

Screen shot is about the only way!!!!!

But if it is your pic in the first place, ya should already have it as a file that can be uploaded to wherever ya want anyways!!!!!

http://www.gramfeed.com is your instagram feed for computers - similar to using the app.

Yeah, I have Gramfeed too!!!!!

There are a few others too!!!!! If ya go to the Instagram website they have a list!!!!!

Hmm i thought i was the only one on the bb who couldn’t get links from photos.

I installed photobucket today and figure out where to get the links from.

But once you have uploaded to facebook or instagram you can then use a computer to get the url links - I suppose! Doesn’t help when you are out and about though i suppose!

Oh yeah, ya can copy the URL from Gramfeed!!!!!
