GoPro / Drift underwater comparison

Drift has better colours / GoPro a little sharper.
Personally I’ll take sharpness any day of the week
presumably that would have been with the gopro underwater housing with the flat lens? agreed the Drift colours look way more natural in that pic.
yes good comparison but when they originally put that picture up, they didnt say which was shot by which and most people said the picture on the right was better and assumed it was the drift…....so to get a true answer from people you need to show it without giving away which is shot by which.
I still prefer the drift shot though.
Is that the drift with the settings out of the box? Or have they fiddled with the settings to acheive the best picture possible Spaz?
Alot of the vids online have the comparisons using out of the box settings, but you cant compare them that way, as if the defaults were the best you wouldnt have the options to change things like exposure and frame rates etc.

I have a GoPro and love it, but I must say I used a Drift (Ozgirls) for a day at the shred and found it to be excellent.
The points I loved about it,
1. It was nice and light (I don’ t know what either weighs, my GP has the LCD screen)
2. When I stopped using it, it fitted in my pocket better than my GP.
3. If I fell with it in my pocket, I’d rather the D than the GP.
4. Turning it on and off was really simple. Easier than the GP.
It did have a software F up and when I tried to playback footage, it went into a flat spin and had to remove battery to get it going again.
Never did get to watch any playback on it as problem reoccured and I lost interest.
It would, by the looks of it fit onto my existing GP mounts.
The footage was great.

The rotatable lens is so you can mount the camera at any angle and then rotate the lens so you’re always filming the right way up.

The rotating lens helps with mounts and angles when filming i suppose.
Weird about the software freezing up - I have never had that happen before.
I may have been because the memory card was full?
So how much is one of those little critters? (without me googling to find out myself)
Ozgirls model RETAILS at $229
The model Blizzard has retails at $319.
Blizzard spent $350 and got hers with a monopod and 8BG memory card.
Difference between models is;
720p vs 1080p
130? vs 170? (FOV)
and a couple of other little functions.
I’ve had the freezing up issue, the footage isn’t affected. Once you copy files to storage or computer the SDcard needs reformatting.
Regular formatting of memory cards is standard practice in photography, without doing it files are often useless or require software recovery processes.
I’ve never lost a file off Drift - just had the same issue with playback you encountered Azz. It doesn’t render the LCD useless, you can still line up your shot just can’t playback.
Yep, thats exactly what I found
We being diligent photographers always do a reformat after downloading to computer / storage device and backing up.

Note changes to prices (I mixed up one number) not a big difference.
The playback issue seems to reoccur on occasion even with formatting the card.
There are a few things that could cause it;
- firmware update issue (Drift update firmware every 3-6mths so the next will fix it)
- a file on the card causing the issue (most likely)
- a dodgy SD card (which could exacerbate the above 2 issues)
At wost it relegates playback of clips back to stock GoPro abilities until you format the card.
I have said it before - your better off with 4X 8GB cards than one 32GB card if prob occurs - change cards and your right to go.
^ie: don’t put all your eggs in one basket!!
