there is no sumo ‘season’. they have competitions throughout the year, however in the winter they hold them in the southern islands (kyuushuu)

@Mizu - There must be a different way to earn some gnar points. That just doesn’t sound fun for anyone sick

Cool beans, Andy!!!!!

Maybe just some of her scones instead?????

So Miz are you going to cart your gear all over while sight-seeing, or ship it back once you’re done riding?

I went to the Sumo once with work. Bored shitless after a few rounds. Better to watch it on TV imo, or find a Sumo stable that will allow you in to watch them train. That is a LOT more interesting.

You can leave it at the airport for a holding fee… It cost us like 50 bucks to leave a board bag there for a week. Cheap as chips and such a good idea.

I have heard that gettin a ticket to the Sumo’s is near impossible?????

Although I have never looked into it myself!!!!!

Sumo season is November ish, I went a couple of years back.  We just got tickets at the door.

My plans are pretty much finalized.

Fly into Tokyo from Melbourne on the 31st of December.
Tokyo for 5 nights.
Hakuba until the 13th
Sapporo for a couple of nights
Off to Asahikawa on the 15th until the 25th/26th
Probably hit up Asahidake, Kurodake, Furano, Kamui Links etc

Sooooo pumped to get my backcountry on.

now that’s the spirit. finally someone doing some exploring. i can whole-heartedly recommend Kamui (except for the restaurant up the top - steer clear of that) Asahidake is magic, Furano has great beer and food.

i’ve just been told that my manager and girlfriend who also works here has decided to take a 6 week holiday from end of jan to start of march, therefore totally ruining my holiday trip plans. their response? “you should have planned it earlier”

what you guys think? taking a 6 week holiday when you are in a 4 person office - pretty shit if you ask me.  michelle

Hm that’s not bad, as long as you’re flying out of the same airport.

Sorry I missed this one, mate!!!!!

Yeah, gonna lug it with us!!!!!

I’ll have the board bag and my checked, and Mrs Miz will have two checked!!!!! Plus a back pack each!!!!!

The itinerary is such that we wont be doin too much footwork with it anyways!!!!!

Plus the snow side of things will be broken up with sightseein, so we can’t really leave our gear anywhere!!!!!

We could possibly forward the boards/gear onto our accom, but we’ll make that up as we go along?????

Me!!!!!!  dance

Accommodation is booked just need to sit back and hope for some decent flights to come up now!

In the meantime I’m spending way to much time tempting myself into buying a new board for the trip!
