Anything built on your land needs council approval. From a BBQ or tree house to extensions, a back yard shed, pergola or decking.
TECHNICALLY
The line is drawn at; nailing two things together.
If you build a dog house and neighbors complain the council could (if they really want) make you pull it down or fine you.
Good point Spaz!
And TJ think the trailer would be more acceptable as it is not a permanent structure and the size as well (rider how big were you thinking for the billboard?)
But the pros for the trailer is that it could be moved around during the year!
Paying for a billboard year round in Jindy or surrounds would be a mighty costly exercise with not much pay back (in the 9 off months a year)
The trailer could go anywhere in the country - towed by the Boardworld van!
(you got a tow ball didn’t you )
It may vary Council to Council, but in the Blue Mountains a sign advertising a business can only be placed on the property which that business operates from. It gets mirky when it’s the RTA/RMS land. They do their own thing.
Before investigating it further you probably want to ring the Council for the area (Snowy River?) and speak to the Planning Department. They will likely have a duty service available (ours is in the morning 8.30-10am) where you can ask those sort of questions.
Vans / trailers are a tricky one state wide, I think. It may be your best avenue though.
Yea, get the billboard to Bowl-a-rama and all the skate spots over the summer could work out well.
Though you’d need to be there really early in the morning to secure 2 spots lol.
Listen to him ^^^^^
LOL
Nooooooooooooooooo
Damn it!
Okay okay TJ made SOME sense!
Thanks for the info, guys. Would you need council approval if it is build on private land? Surely the land owner can do what they want with their land? It would be within the owner’s property, not on the side of the road.
Yeah, doesn’t matter if it’s their land!!!!!
The laws are there for a reason, and I reckon they are good laws!!!!!
Imagine the money that property owners could make by chargin a few bucks per sign????? That’s a positive for sure!!!!!
And then also imagine driving along that road and seein a different sign every 5 meters apart?????
It would make the place look shithouse!!!!!
Unless they are all Boardworld Signs!!!!! With an endorsement from Mizu Kuma Signature of course!!!!!
Get Dan to make sexual advances to their town planner?????
It worked in the Gong!!!!!
On the identifying land owners thing, a few years ago at a garage sale i found a CFA book for my area that had maps of all the land and then listed the owners of said land. Might be another option if you cant find out info from the council

Not necessarily. There is exempt development (doesn’t require Council approval). Planning laws are more and more shifting towards exempt (and complying) development.

Hahaha, that must be an old copy. They were due to release a new one around the late 90’s and just before it was to be distributed they had to stop because of the new privacy laws being introduced.
You won’t find any new copies with that information in them anymore
