RPS88A I’ve got a HTC one XL and it awesome! as you said it does suck as there is no expandable memory but its quick and the HTC sence UI is great. the Samsung Galaxy S3 is the king of android smart phones at the moment I believe and. Only downside to the S3 and One Xl may be their larger sizes however you do get used to is pretty quick and who doesnt want that extra screen space!

i much prefer the look of the S2 to the S3, but as said above, looks are no where near the top of the list for requirements

It is one nice phone if ya wanna swap to droid!!!!!

the screen on that phone is a knock-out,  but someone at work has one and the battery life is terrible.

Was pretty much signed up for a S3, but today I read the S4 is coming in Feb/Mar.  And it will be 5”.  I might rethink and go for something smaller.  Phones are just getting too damned big.

If you like the current feature set of an S3 just get one. You’ll never end up getting anything if you are worried about what is coming in the future as their are always murmers of what’s on the horizon.

As far as I know the S4 stuff is purely rumours with nothing official. I believe Samsung may have even denied it and Feb/Mar isn’t really that soon.

Having said that I should let you know that the 4G S3 is only a couple of weeks away and that is kind of make or break for some people.

Buy the phone (or any tech related device) for what you want it to do now, not in the future.

Yeah I know, just expressing my frustration with the rate of technology obsolescence.  The S3 4G is the one I’ll likely get, although I am also going to have a look at the new Motorolas as one of them is not obscenely large.

Terribly sorry for jumping into this thread so late. I need a new phone desperately, my phone’s nearly 3 years old and falling apart. I was thinking of getting an S3 when the i5 came out for the price bump down but I dunnoe about the size. Leaning more towards S3 than i5. The i5 seems okay but the price is so high (did you guys know 16gb is being sold for less than $300 in the US?!) and the new chargers seems so inconvenient.

Also the 5 has 4G, new OS, different charge/transfer port (which I thought was a stupid idea)!!!!!

I heard Apple is predicted to make a massive profit from the new chargers, at least $100m.

Phones are getting way too big these days.

Samsung’s phones sure are. They’re a bit like those ridiculous Swiss Army knives with waaaaaaaayyyyyyy to many features - so it no longer fits nicely in your pocket.

That is the best comparison I’ve ever heard! HAHA

RPS88A - 18 September 2012 11:33 AM

yeah i do agree with the look of the s2 being better…saw the blue irl today, didnt like it at all…will probably go for the white like my 4s

I agree with you. I only like black phones - if anything else, dark grey. But for the S3, go with a case or if you don’t want it to be any bulkier, a sticker for the back.

Yeah, I did hear a couple of people mention battery life bein an issue also!!!!!

I wonder if battery life on all bigger screen phones can be an issue????? They would def use more power to run than their smaller counterparts you’d think!!!!!

iPhone 5 Review on Engadget

The iPhone 5 is a significant improvement over the iPhone 4S in nearly every regard, and in those areas that didn’t see an upgrade over its predecessor—camera, storage capacity—one could make a strong case that the iPhone 4S was already ahead of the curve. Every area, that is, except for the OS. If anything, it’s the operating system here that’s beginning to feel a bit dated and beginning to show its age.

Still, the iPhone 5 absolutely shines. Pick your benchmark and you’ll find Apple’s thin new weapon sitting at or near the top. Will it convince you to give up your Android or Windows Phone ways and join the iOS side? Maybe, maybe not. Will it wow you? Hold it in your hand—you might be surprised. For the iOS faithful this is a no-brainer upgrade. This is without a doubt the best iPhone yet. This is a hallmark of design. This is the one you’ve been waiting for.

I couldn’t be arsed reading through everyone’s comments (made it page 3 - 4ce_full’s post).

Rider - why a plan? Optus offers a $2days prepaid. Unlimited; Data, calls, messages. (this is rhetorical - no need to answer, I just wanted peeps to know optus has this as the don’t sell it much).

If you spend a lot of time in the snow (Perisher/Thredbo) optus is more reliable as it’s the only provider who’s tower has backup power for their towers. Notice I didn’t say Optus has a better connection because none provide a decent connection - unless your at Bullocks Flats.

Bring on 4G - so everyone gets off the 3G network. 3G used to be great until everyone owned a smartphone. In 3 years 4G will be crap.

Yeah I 2nd spaz’s comment. If you can afford to buy one outright, you can get an amaysim no contract $39.90 a month (pre or post paid) for unlimited calls, texts and 4gb of data, using optus network. I use it and it is great.

Mine’s $11 a month for $500 credit and 1.5gb smile

On most plans you end up paying $2000.00 for a $700 phone!

Umm $2000 for a $700 phone and a $1300 plan.

The $2 a day deal is great from Optus Spaz like you said no one ever gets told about it, as is the Amaysim deal Cords Mentioned above.

And a heads up, the 4G S3 is now available at Optus stores…

iPhone 16GB 5 RRP $799

TELSTRA -

Pre paid - $40 Per 30 Days = $550 credit + 600MB Data

Plan - $67 Per month = $600 credit + 1GB Data + Handset!!!!!

If you divide the cost of the phone by the 24 month contract term it will cost $33.30 Per month!!!!!

A saving of $3.70 per month if you went prepaid over plan!!!!! (plus plan has more cred and data), if you were to pay this $799 off debt it would most likely save more than the $89 in interest alone?????

Prepaid doesn’t always win hands down!!!!! Depends on the circumstances!!!!!
