Crackers the greens don’t like wind farms as apparently they kill thousands of migrating birds each year, sounds like we want green power but it cannot cause any harm to anything ever. Sometimes I think the greens will only be happy when all the people are dead.
Where are you actually getting this from? First you said Greenies…I consider myself a ‘greenie’ and I like wind farms. I don’t think it hurts to try and reduce accidental bird kills though. why wouldn’t you try to do that? or put them in places less likely to result in lots of bird life kill. I’d certainly not support putting one next to a colony of little terns but that hardly means I am against them.
If you actually mean the greens as in the political party then you are either making it up or its in a policy I can’t find. A quick look on their website showed me that they seem to be pretty big fans of wind power.
The greens seem to attract support from the younger generation, the one that has grown up being brain washed by Al Gore and the rest of his climate alarmist pals. The very document that Al Gore based his premise on has been shown to be flawed and many of the scientists credited in it actively fought to have their names removed from the doc as they felt they had been either taken out of context, did not agree with the conclusion or had some other issue with it altogether.
Never watched anything by AL Gore but I have heard it has some flaws, big deal, I think we already established that the main stream has no idea on this stuff. As for only young people being attracted to the greens, that is hardly true either. The argument could be flipped in any case to say that the other parties just attract old conservatives that are set in their ways and don’t like change. Both are irrelevant to whether climate change is real or not.
I’m not going to sit here and say that the anti climate change movement doesn’t do exactly the same thing but in the interests of furthering their own causes both sides have muddied the waters so bad that a casual observer has no hope in making an educated decision and is far more likely to go with the “politically correct” global warming side of the arguement.
I think the casual observer is far more likely to go with the community groups/scientists/greenies etc that appear to have good intentions versus going with the likes of Shell,Enron and big business, which Australians tend to be highly suspicious of, in mind rightly so.
The greens and climate change lobbies have wielded PC very well as a tool, you tell most people you don’t believe in climate change in a public forum and they will look at you like you just shat in your own hand and started chowing down on it. Then you’re attacked personally as someone who is either very dumb, not well read, prejudiced, bigotted, racist and any number of other negative connotations that a person has no way of knowing about you based on the fact you don’t believe in man made climate change.
A public forum right here and I can’t see you being personally attacked. It might have more to do with the way you put your points across. You can’t on one hand cry foul if someone says those things about you and on the other say the same thing about the other side of the debate….you are dumb, prejudiced etc etc , the other side are brainwashed, alarmists etc etc etc. you have put all of these terms t into this debate right here so I can’t really see why you would feel hard done by if someone returned similar lines at you.
In ten years time when I’m riding Perisher and it’s another 2m plus year at SPencers Creek I will take great joy in saying I told you so however the climate change mob will just push out the forecast another ten years only this time if we don’t do something (spend billions of dollars on their flawed research) we’ll end up with volcano’s sprouting from beneath our feet, tornado’s will be an everyday occurrence and it will be like living in a sauna.
You are right, I don’t know how much you have read or know on this subject, but statements like this make me think you are relying on newspaper articles like the one that started this thread. Why? because you won’t actually find many climate scientists saying that the snow will definitely disappear in 10 years. From what I have read the majority of predictions are for there to be more extremes. Which incidentally may mean better snow. Bigger violent fronts followed by longer warmer patches in between where we lose a lot of it. In any case, if you think a one off year of 2m snow proves anything, then sorry but you are misinformed.
Crakcers I’m going to agree to disagree with you on this one, it’s similar to the Israeli’s convincing the Arab world they are right and vice versa. There are a couple of aspects you brought up I will address however. Brainwashed and alarmist are not in the same vicinity of social crimes as prejudice and bigotry, if one is a slingshot the other is a .44 magnum hand cannon in terms of the resultant social stigma and pariahdom.
I’m also not in the habit of making things up to support my POV, I have read it previously that there is concern amongst green groups that wind farms are a bad idea for the reasons I listed amongst others. I am not in the habit of saving the link to everything I read in case I need to bring it up to support my POV in an internet argument, I’m not that anal and it’s not that important in the scheme of my life. The fact remains that I have formed my opinion based on what I have read on the subject which is neither incredibly in depth nor is at the level learned from the great truth master known as the Daily Telegraph.
Golden point time, you mentioned and I quote “Why? because you won’t actually find many climate scientists saying that the snow will definitely disappear in 10 years.” Why might that be? Because they don’t know, if they did they would put their money (the research grants my hard tax dollars affords them) and commit to a time and date. The fact remains they do not know when if ever this will happen and we are all being penalised for an assumption based on flawed research and pre conceived conclusions.
Just a note on the wind farms thing. Was just posted on The Greens facebook page:
“A great note to end your Friday: wind farms provided 55% of South Australia’s power on Wednesday! For parts of this week, they generated more than 80% of SA power and had enough left over to export energy for Victorians to use.
Energy producers in SA have cut their levels of the pollution that drives global warming by 27% in the last 5 years. These technologies work, they provide power at zero input cost and bid down the cost of energy for everyone, and they are driving the solution to global warming.
So, yes, we are unabashedly pro-renewable - and pro-pun.”
Can’t see anything to be upset about in that paragraph.
Sounds pretty pro wind farms to me, and it makes sense that they would try to put them in places where they aren’t going to kill heaps of birds.
And I missed out on this!!!!!
You didn’t miss much - just the usual left-wing hypocrisy and double-talk.
Oh, and some misguided fool thinks that beeseekay is a mindless puppet with no opinions of his own.

OK, I’m going to set you all straight.
The climate is warming, caused by what who knows.
Apple products are better for idiots like me, that just want a simple, easy to use system
All POV cameras are pretty much the same for dudes like us that just want to capture a bit of footage of ourselves trying to be T.Rice.
