You referring to K2 snowboard right ? Not out of all snowboards there are only 2-3 that truly have the same nose and tail
No, as I was told, out of all snowboards currently made, only about 2-3 have a truly symmetrical flex pattern/core construction and board shape. The WWW is one of those boards. (it’s basically just a piece of wood covered in p-tex)
which are the other 1-2?????????? im not a big fan of K2 no reason in particular just haven’t been on a few…. Im picking up YES. The Greats this year and the Bataleon Evil Twin
K2 has alot of flatness on their boards well outside of the camber ones, I don’t see a point for flatness outside the park, rails and presses but I’m slightly into that more into jumps and cliff drop in the backcountry
I couldn’t actually tell you Lester. I wouldn’t take it as the gospel but it was an interesting thing to hear from someone who has spent a long time in the industry. I really doubt you would ever notice much difference in the way a true twin board rode backwards so long as the inserts were centered.
I have a WWW, and have noticed the inserts aren’t completely centered on it, but they’re pretty close. I’m not such a fan of the flat camber or K2 in general either.

Lester, don’t bother yourself with finding a TRUE TWIN, as opposed to just a regular true twin. K2’s flatline bases are ok to ride too. I might pick up an ultra dream one day.
What are these cliff drops in the backcountry that you do? They sound pretty gnarly. Got any pics or video? It’s always good to get more stoke up on this forum!
Ultra dream? Flatline bases ?? Your really selling the flat bases and about cliff drops well they sound worse/crazier then they are,, they are in essence just drops off of pillow tops and cliff like areas,, I don’t know what to call them other then cliffs cause they stick out like cliffs and then the mountain starts I think it has something to do with wind and snowpack but either way they look sweet to me and I’ve gone off of a good amount in Vail and Breck in Colorado but nothing crazy well not yet Mt baker had some too but it’s now a easy thing to record because from the top you don’t see anything other then me dropping and the bottom is sketchy… No worries I’ll be sure to upload some videos this season hopefuly I can progress on my jumps and landings of course before I go out west and Whistler because one thing we don’t have any of is cliff or any type of backcountry in the Chicago area.
sounds like you’re dropping off cornices.
Anyways, as long as your board has a tail, you will be fine on any type of board. Fishes and Hovercrafts have small tails, but they can still stomp drops as long as you land over your board and not leaning back.
I wasn’t selling flat bases to you. I just said that flat based boards are still valid for all mountain, and I pointed out that the K2 Ultra dream is a board I would consider buying (and it’s flat). Mind you, my other boards are either cambered, or have burtons v-rocker or flying v rocker. Oh wait, I just bought a new k2 split which is flat with rockered tips.
at the end of this video, there is a nice drop.
great vid Gamblor. Where was that shot? it was you in the clip?? What month?

What do you mean by “valid”? To be honest, flat camber is the worst profile I have ridden. I don’t understand how it’s useful out of the park (and even then, I still prefer camrock or camber in the park). While it’s obviously not impossible to ride a flat camber board elsewhere on the mountain, as far as I can see, there is no need to and no benefit to doing so either.
I guess some people just dislike rocker so flat maybe middle line for them? I’m personally indifferent to flat boards demoed endeavor BOD, salomon powder snake (although BOD has lifted up contact points, and powder snake has a smaaall rocker toward the ends but mostly flat). I don’t really like em but I don’t hate em. Same with SamNZ I prefer C2 or camrock.
Now we talking YES! but more like this, found it on youtube poor quality but something along these lines

I assume you’ve never ridden the k2 happy hour, k2 ultra dream, k2 turbo dream, Smokin Kyle Clancy pro model (actually all of smokin’s anti-camber boards are sick). I’ve ridden most of those boards and really liked them. It’s all personal preference. This year I’ll be owning the k2 panoramic split which is flat, so I’ll be able to see even better if it’s ‘valid’ or not.
edit: I just remembered the 2013 burton root has flattop tech. I absolutely loved that board! Flat CAN be awesome

I have had Turbo Dream for two seasons now and like the camber profile in powder, but anywhere else not that great (but not bad either). If the TD had more pop, I would really like it, since I like to ollie over things lot.
I’m going with a camrock this year for all-mountain/freeride and keep a camber for park.

thanks! In Toyama Japan at my local resort. Yes, it was me. it was the afternoon of Feb 2nd, 2012.
snowball2, I’ll be interested to hear if you find the camrock to have more pop or not than the turbo dream

Yep, no denying it’s about preference - but what I asked was what do you mean by valid? As in, what aspects of the flat camber do you believe make it good for all over the mountain?
No I haven’t ridden all those boards, I have tried some. My current WWW is flat. I’ve tried the Turbo Dream and know people who’ve owned it with less than raving reviews. Also the DH 2 was at one point, if not still, flat. I wouldn’t argue that it is the worst camber, but it is the worst I’ve personally tried, and I believe in most situations there is a better option than flat.

I’ll let you know. But I hope so. And I have to say I don’t know if the newer Turbo Dreams have more pop than mine (09/10).
