I have a sony xperia x10 mini pro. Touch screen with slide out qwerty keyboard for messaging. I love it, it just sucks cos I soon as I turn on data transfer, the battery just drains so quickly. The slide-out gives it a bit more chunk which also helps with my incessant dropping of the darn thing.
Would like a blackberry torch 9810 but will have to wait til they are at least half as cheap as the current cheapest price I can find of $400 til I really consider it.

I have a 4s and can easily get 1.5-2 days out of it. Still at 72% after a full work day, which includes messages, at least 2 or 3 calls and playing a few games on it at lunch (words with friends type games). Wifi is on and it checks for emails on push.
Get her to wipe the phone, upgrade to the newest iOS and limit herself to no more than 10-15 apps then it will work fine.
If not, get a genius bar appointment and return it as faulty.
4s battery life is fine.
Just make sure you turn off open apps by pressing ‘home’ button twice, then holding down an app that appears, then hit (-) to close each app (I do this twice a day). I turn off wifi when not needed and if battery low turn off 3g. With 3g and wifi off battery lasts +3 days from full charge!
My 4s lasts 6hrs using the Perisher app - GPS tracking with maps (constant connection to web) while playing music and I usually make a few calls and send many sms.
Samsung is threatening to sue apple if 5 has 4G (really?)

I was holding out for iPhone5 but couldn’t wait - I’m happy with 4s (until I see others using 5 - then I’ll be jelly) BUT WILL NEVER GO ON A PLAN AGAIN.

I agree that the 4s definately doesnt have battery problems. Mine last all day at the snow listening to music, takign photos, and connected to pocket wifi and surfing at lunchtime and breaks
When I really use my phone (when I can because Thredbo and P have shocking connection issues for both internet and phone) I take my small battery extender which doubles battery life.
Oz, I bother because with the resorts connection issues I may as well not use 3g. Even using the free wifi in Perisher Center is as slow as dialup.
In Perisher this season I’ve been able to post a total of 2 photo’s to instagram, IG rarely updates it’s feed and for fb I have to connect before 6am or after 11pm for it to work at all.
Boardworld works but my screen usually turns off before a page loads. I blame this for my post count being low in winter.

Telstra worked fine on my phone on the weekend. I was surfing from the perisher centre, the pub and the ski patrol hut.
Yeah Perisher sucks this winter, I usually turn my data off for a couple of hours.
