Hey guys,
Bout time I joined the boardworld crew….
Considering a new board purchase at the moment. Currently on an 06 Society 160 - love the board but ideally wanting something a bit shorter. Like riding a true twin freestyle deck but have always gone a larger size so can still handle the steep & deep ok. However, last couple of yrs have have been more interested in park.
Anyway, have been looking at the new 2011 Society. The old ‘shop test’ (picking it up and giving it a quick flex) suggests that apart from being much lighter the flex pattern is a bit softer but also a touch more poppy. Probably a long shot seeing the new model has only just been released, but wondering if anyone has actually ridden both year model boards & can provide some feedback on differences…..
Cheers,
Dave
When you buy the new one i’ll have to put my bindings on both of yours and tell you what i think!!

Hey cuthbert,
Welcome to Boardworld!
I haven’t ridden either board, but I have emailed your questions to the Ride rep. Hopefully he will be able to answer your questions soon.
Cheers.
Awesome, thanks for that….
Hey Cuthbert
The new 2011 Society has had some slight changes over previous years. The board is lighter as it now has the UL core (this is the same core that was on the previous Concept UL) where sections of the core have been removed and replaced with urethane. It also has the new hemp based topsheet (better for the environment and about half the weight of a traditional plastic topsheet) We are also utilizing a new glassing technique that adds more carbon to the construction. Basically it is a lighter poppier version of your older Society.
Hope this helps
