Deck Durability

When should i stop skating my deck? My deck is razor-tailed almost to the max, and has pressure cracks all over the sides, but it still hasn’t snapped. Mostly because I’m a beginner, plus, I’m fairly small in weight/size, anyway. I don’t think I’d ever be able to snap a deck, LOL. Also, thoughts on stereo decks?

When the deck has lost its pop/snappieness it’s time to move on (if u can afford a new one). If it is that worn on the tail it will most likely be effecting it’s pop. Pop will also drop as the board softens over time from use.
Haven’t skated stereo so can’t comment

Good job for riding it for that long. Yep what K2 says get a new one and maybe cut your old one to make a mini board.

Yeh I’m gonna cut one of my old ones into a thinner cruiser and put penny style trucks n wheels on it

Yeh mate ditch it and get a new one. Razortail is the number 1 reason a board losses it pop so you wont be able to progress with a dead board. Keep it as backup.

I did that to a deck lying around the house and made it a cruiser board. Its quite decent

My deck is quite worn down as well, but money’s an issue :(

Both 24 Skatebaords and Manton do pretty affordable decks, so I’d try either of them.
I skate 24 atm and they last really well.

As the board gets older and soggier it is harder to snap because of the flex in the deck. Newer boards then to snap a lot easier.

Check the skateboard maintainance video https://www.boardworld.com.au/forums/viewthread/4933/. It shows how to prevent razor tail. Other thing with razor tail is the fact that is can cut you and be quite painful.

Depending on how often you skate and the surface that you skate on will also affect the length of time your deck will last. Rougher surfaces generally kill you deck really quick. Better quality decks will last longer as well because of the better glue pentration helping it hold together and pop last longer.

Loving the recycling on the old decks though guys. Loads of fun making up cruiser shapes.

I really like this form of recycling. Turning old skate decks into sunglasses! http://www.shwoodshop.com/collections/projects#canby-skateboard-shades
