Best snow in the world? and why?
Everyone has a different opinion on the best powder on this earth… Where does the best snow fall and why is it so?
The lightest snow I have every experienced was in Japan. So far nothing else I have seen compares. I would like to check out Utah though, I heard the pow there is epic.
ive heard japan is good for powder…never been myself….hopefully one day soon!

I agree with Japan, Hokkaido is incredible. However, Japan isn’t super steep - don’t get me wrong, GREAT riding but of a different kind. Good pitch, nicely space trees and epic pow. Utah resorts have amazing pow and great terrain. I spent a season in Fernie BC and the snow might not be as light (close) but the terrain is perhaps the best I’ve experienced.
I went to Lake Tahoe a couple of seasons back and that was epic, huge mountains with a vast variety of terrain, plenty of deep dry powder. Heavenly and Kirkwood were real standouts, they had 16m of snow when i got there and that was only half way through the season, i think they ended up with over 20m for the season. Another great thing about the place is that in only tended to snow overnight, with blue skies the next day. Perfect!

This question is impossible for the general public to answer because very few have been across the world snowboarding…
The best snow is when there is snow.
I agree that you cant judge snow as the best in the world, every day the snow conditions will change do to weather, pressure….etc. As far as the best conditions and place I have ridden well that I can tell you:
Big white, British Columbia, Canada.
We arrived on the mountain 2 days before New years, amazing conditions, first day was 7 degrees above 0 and the day before was a dump of 60cms. That day was amazing but it got so much better as around 3 the cloud level started to rise, the snow started to fall. As daylight was getting low we headed back down to the town sight for hot tubs and drinks.
The next morning we headed up the mountain to find that the snow that began the night before was still falling. We were one of the first to get on the lifts to find over a meter and a half of fresh was awaiting us. Fresh fluffy soft nothing that day was to big to try with that much padding for a landing fear was no where in sight.
And that was the best conditions I have yet to find.

The best quality snow I have experienced was in Japan and interior Brithish Columbia.
I have experienced some pretty damn good snow in Whistler. I would have to say the season of 2007-2008 was some of the lightest and fluffiest snow i’ve ever rode on.. And there was lots of it
Best snow, I’d say Japan, also Utah. Utah gets the nod terrain-wise, though, but Japan for massive, consistent, constant dumps.
The Whistler stuff in pretty wet by comparison, but Whistler takes the cake for the funnest crowds and all the cool Aussie accents!
