RAGE !!! New domestic baggage allowances!!!!!

Avatar

Try flying internationally now…

You used to get 1 piece of carry on and 2x23kg items with a 3rd costing $150. Now it’s only one piece of checked luggage and you have to pay $70 for your second and $225 for your 3rd.

It’s an old Burton board bag. (not sure of the model, but old). There is a middle helmet/gear pouch that fits a fair bit of gear, but I always travel with too much extra crap LOL

Also, I’ll be coming home with an extra board, so there will be a little less room in there. At least I don’t have to worry about the extra board tipping me over weight now I’ve bought an extra allowance smile

wouldn’t be the gig (non wheel) cause you can stuff a fair bit into those
sounds like the board sack (one below it doesn’t have the middle pouch)

if this is the case than i can understand why you cant cram much stuff
its tapered so you can fit less into the ends

Solution: Get silver tape, tape rucksack to boardbag, check in as one bag. reach destination and remove silver tape with scissors as you will have used a shitload of tape haha

likelihood of success: 6.5/10. I’d tried it quite a few times overseas and it worked nearly everytime. I had to pay extra once but I was going to have to do that anyway!

In the airport in denpasar, that had a machine that would basically gladwrap your bag to high heaven for a small fee, so that it couldn’t be tampered with. I didn’t do it but I’m sure if you conjoined the two bags that way and then checked them in as one, like crackers said, you’d be sweet!

We are flying Virgin also, between 4 of us we purchased 2 checked in bags which was $12 each way.

1 bag is going to have all our boards and as many boots up to 23kg. The Second will be a normal bag with binding and other gear. And then we will all just take a backpack with clothes etc.

Are you coming to shred Crackers?? I want to hear more of your wisdom oh wise one LOL

anyway

did the maths..assume your tier 2
you actually paying extra 30 bucks each way as you as you need to pay the 15 bucks for 1 piece of luggage anyway

look i saved you 30 bucks wink

also at least you picked it up early
otherwise its 100 bucks at the airport
so if you look at it that way you will feel much better about it LOL

Yeah I’m not so angry anymore because it’s one more day closer to shred

That sucks, mate. Airlines are the worst. I’ve had many bad experiences at the counters. I’ve had to pay an extra $70 a few times for the extra snowboard bag. More airlines are doing this now. Some you have to pay for every bag. Sorry they screwed you.  hmmm

As said above, i think its time you upgraded your board bag!

I only took my wheelie gig bag to USA, fit all my gear, plus all my clothes for 3 weeks, toiletries etc.

It would probably be cheaper to buy a spare business class seat for your luggage than purchasing at perisher! smile

I’m flying back from Europe next week back to Melbourne. It’s $100 for the snowboard/ski bag to be put on. Last time I take my gear internationally cost me $200+ for coming and leaving.

You are limited to which airline to use due to all the restrictions.
