As long as you not by yourself eh Lanox!
Justifiable sure, actually doing it is a lot harder than needed (i.e. 4am wake up to get there by 9, then ride all day, leave at 5 and get home by 11 isn’t really smart.)
Though next year, I might actually be keen on some Sunday day trips (so I can play soccer then go down) if anyone is keen.
TJ you know i am keen for that…
Sweet, we can organize a few once I get the soccer draw for next year. There will be times I take the whole weekend but definitely room for 2-3 days trips throughout the season . I’m sure we can grab a few others who would be keen. 4 in a car with roof racks would be an awesome trip!
for sure man…
hopefully i am going to get some camping gear as welll…

mmm whats that suppose to mean ?
but yes i like to be social. Didn’t really know that is a crime on here.
Yep, looks like the best way. Get a tent and an awesome sleeping bag and then something to get you off the floor and we will be fine. I’m sure Nthn will give us tips if we need

When I’m not with my girlfriend I’m happy for whoever to throw a bed on the floor of the camper as long as they don’t snore like Dylan and if they do they don’t mind if I throw shit at them till they shut up. As it’s my camper however I reserve the right to rape rhino’s in my sleep without having inanimate objects thrown at me. It fits two double mattresses on the floor or 3 single air mattresses or therma rests damn easy.
Always keen to share the driving as well, I’ve done 7 trips this year and 3 of them have been solo, my chick is on her P’s and I won’t subject myself or other road users to 90kmh so I have actually done 5 trips where I’ve driven all the way there and back.
In regards to an awesome tent I wouldn’t be super concerned if you’re going for a small 2-3 man, even the cheaper versions of these are ok in the wind. When you start looking for tents you can stand up and move around in and the resultant large cross section that can get hammered by the wind then forget most of the cheap shit, it’s going to fold in half and beat you in the face through the night leaving you sleepless and miserable the next day. My $49 (on sale) 6 man from Ray’s Outdoors is great when it’s not windy, even handles the rain great, when it gets windy I want to set it on fire as it’s useless. What to get, I don’t really know but Black Wolf and Denali are sposed to have a decent rep.
This is what I got a few years back in double size, was about $90 back then
haha i agree Nthn,
i cant wait for next season as it will be much different then this one. In all honesty mate you have opened my eyes regarding camping and going weekend trips for some weird reason i always though its best to go for a week or 2 and that is it. But this weekend and camping sounds so much fun…
I am actually contemplating selling my mazda 3 and getting a fwd. so i can load it up with no problems.
yep can also recommend those clark rubber mattresses…but definitely shell out the extra and get the higher density foam. We’ve got a double, it folds up very nicely and I’ve had some of my best sleeps ever on that thing. If you go the low density foam, its nowhere near as good and if you ever lie on your side, your hip bones tend to rest on the ground your sleeping on!
Where do you guys camp? In jindy or up at sawpit?
I really dont mind having crap thrown at me cause the chance of waking me up is very very minimal
In jindi
And that is why Nthn is member of the week
Isn’t a Mazda 3 a Front Wheel Drive or did you mean 4wd? Get an auto diesel if you go 4wd mate, the petrol 4wd tend to go through the juice a bit for their size and power or lack thereof. They do tend to set you back a little more on purchase price generally speaking though so it’s a case of sorting out your needs and priorities for the car and buying something suitable.
Ideally I could buy something for under $30K, turbo diesel dual cab ute, the size and clearance of an F250 dual cab, went like a Maloo ute, had part time and low range 4wd, returned 8l/100km, had less than 80,000km on the clock, was black or dark blue and has a weapon in car entertainment system. So far that has proven impossible so I went with the Ford Ranger instead, I still keep my eye out though ha ha ha!
I want the extended trip as well Lanox, starting a new job and having to have time off to get my ear op done has made that a bit hard but I’m going to try and get two days for the shred so I can have 4 days on snow in a row, might try stretch for 5 maybe. Almost anything is possible if you want it bad enough, just make the right choices and sacrifices and manage the expectations of those around you as to what you’re going to be doing through winter.
