Avatar

Any one used both of these can give me some aside I’m stuck between 4 boards Yes PYL & The greats / NS Proto & Cobra,, I’m looking for board can take the big jumps during practice i the park but I can also take to Whristler and hit those backcountry jumps and drops in that deep pow.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Pyl and graets are very different ... pyl is a stiff flex and greats is alot softer then previous years in the tips

Yeah same for the NS, The rocker profile is the same though, not sure which would be the best choice for my riding style, jumps and pow hmmm

In my limited experience of trying both boards, I prefer the PYL by far. That board has a perfect medium stiff flex for me. It’s a directional board but with my noob switch riding skills, I didn’t find it weird at all when riding switch. It has a lot more rocker in the nose than tail (the greats has equal rocker) + 3/4 set back will make it great for the pow pow. I think different taste for different people but for I’d choose the PYL. I’m sure rider26, finney, marcab, mizu, and many others swear by the greats.

As you know, I’m a huge fan of the YES Greats. If you’re riding park and pow, in Whistler of all places, I think the Greats is pretty much the perfect board. I said it last season, if I had to buy only one board for an entire season at Whistler, I would buy the YES Greats hands down.

The PYL is a sick board, no doubt about it, but it’s more freeride oriented. The Greats will be more versatile, perform better in the park and be more forgiving as you progress your freestyle skills.

Thanks Rider26,

The more I hear about it the more on leaning towards it, no issues on the steeps with the greats right? Also grip over hard pack / ice any issues?

Those damn Never Summer boards are looking tempting so I don’t know, but you definitely thinking a twin for what I’m planning on doing with the board right ? Because the other one I’m looking at is the NS Proto which to is the same as the The greats, so If I can’t decide I’ll pick both up and test them out but then there’s the NS Cobra which is like the Proto but with 3/4 inch setback…. Guess the it gonna come down to the Camber profile the ones flat between bindings the other is not (Camrock vs R.C.).

No issues mate. smile

Twin is what you want for park/freestyle. More versatile.

Personally I prefer camber between my feet. More energy, stability, edge hold and pop.
