im currently riding the academy propaganda 153. its kind of beat up so im looking for a new board mainly for park. just wondering if a shorter board would be better in the park. your thoughts and on other boards too.
Hey sfc808, welcome to the community.
Where do you ride mainly? Most park rats would probably tell you to get the 150. It’s definitely on the short side for your weight but it’s not ridiculously small. The advantages of the shorter board are: easier to spin, easier to press/butter, better for rails/jibbing etc. The 153 will be more stable for big jumps (landing in particular). To be honest, either board will work fine for your height and weight. You just need to decide what’s more important; jibbing and maneuverability, or stability and speed.
How do you find your current 153? Do you feel like you’d benefit from being on a shorter board?
I notice the board you’re looking at is a park/jib board, so if you’re mainly using it for what it’s intended, I’d probably steer towards the 150. You still have your 153 for days when you feel like being on a bigger board.
I’ve been riding a few rossi boards this season and am enjoying them. I really wanted to try the retox but there’s none here for me to demo. I’ve been spending the last few weeks on the rossignol district. Rossignol are putting out some quality boards this season.
Based on what you’ve stated I’d go for the 153. Rossi boards are super light so I don’t think you’ll have any troubles throwing it around. I’m 5’7, 145lbs and I’m on a rossignol 155. I’m enjoying it a lot more than my 152 and I’ve not had any problems with the length. As a note on the rossignol flex rating, the website states the district is a 5/10 but I’d rate it as a 3.5/10 (10 being stiff). They also rate the Experience as a 9/10. I’d say it’s an 8 - The reason is that it’s only stiff under foot and not at the tips, so it’s still pressable. So there’s a possibility the retox might be a tad flexier than you expect!
I haven’t tried the Rossi Retox. But I have tried the Rossi Jibsaw and I can highly recommend it. It’s an awesome park board without losing it’s ability to carve well (which u will want for spinning off kicker if nothing else).
If you can, give it a demo
I ended up buying Endeavor’s equivalent of the Jibsaw, and I love it in the park and everywhere else. And it’s a 160!
thanks for the help guys! im thinking rossi retox with ride rodeo bindings, sick or what?
Ride have always produced solid bindings, and I’m enjoying Rossignol’s boards this season. Sounds like a pretty sweet setup!
