Yep I agree with Cords,

You break the law you cope the fine.

I am no angel and do break the law but I don’t complain if I get caught.

Personally I like in my area that parking inspectors come around - if we had no metered parking it would be a free for all and I would have a long walk to my car.

And the reason a no stopping zone is so hi is that usually a no stopping zone is for a safety reason, no standing is less of a fine as it is more of a convenience thing vs safety.

Keep drinking the Kool-Aid.

I will - me likey the Kool-Aid shaka

Don’t worry about it guys i don’t want this to be an argument.

i did wrong i understand that completely and not making excuses.

However i would think there is still nice people in the world left and that he could of let me off with a warning.
I would completely understand if i parked the car there for good and he started to write a fine and i came in middle of him writing it and try to pull some excuses, but he was parking the dame bike while i was moving my car he surely could of had some decency to let me off with warning.

oh dear. I thought you might.

If there is a no stopping zone and you park there, you’ve broken a pre-existing rule, of which you are aware of the consequences that come in the form of fines. If a parking inspector happens to catch you then I see no issue with him giving you the fine. I would hold out hope, but never expect one of these dudes to turn a blind eye. Yes he has a choice, but so did Lanox when he parked & he happened to make the wrong one. I don’t see any particular reason for giving mercy in this specific case. Why would he?

Sorry, but I see no correlation in the morality stakes between giving someone a parking fine and assassins, nazis or baby seal clubbers….and I never will.

It is the parking inspectors choice to give you the ticket, it also a choice to beat the living shit out of him if I catch him in the act or not.  I have received fines for parking out the front of parents property a couple of times.  The first time was when they decided that despite putting in a rolled curb so you could park your car on the strip thus allowing two way traffic to flow freely that now this was an offence called “parking on strip in built up area.”  This wasn’t a problem for the first 10 years this gutter was in so not sure why it suddenly became an issue.  Now the street is filled with cars on both sides who are too afraid of fines to put their wheels over the gutter so the street is basically one way at a time, there is no footpath there to be blocked either.

The second time they extended the double yellow lines past my parents place and they booked me for parking on the road in the double yellows area.  They booked my Mum about 4 weeks ago as she wasn’t the prescribed 3m from the double yellow lines, she was about 2.7m.  Don’t try and tell me to talk to them as this does not work, in this case violence is the answer any other course of action is a waste of time.  In case you’re wondering I’m also a strong proponent for vandalism of speed cameras.

I did happen upon the ranger one time when he was writing the ticket, Dad apparently heard my tone of voice change during the “discussion” I had with the guy and came out to diffuse the situation.  The rangers excuse was that apparently someone in management at the local council drives around and takes pictures of cars parked illegally and wants to know why they haven’t been booked by the ranger/enforcement officers.  I politely asked for his name and address so I could approach this individual and share with him my difference of opinion but unfortunately this request was denied.

. . . I’m also a strong proponent for vandalism of speed cameras.

An act which is known in rational, intelligent circles as providing a valuable public service. Should be more of it.

Thanks Cords, your respect is all I could ask for.

Realistically I understand that it’s easier not to park where you can be fined but it’s when they move the goalposts that it really gets me angry.  Somewhere deep in council by laws is a rule whereby you cannot park on the strip in a built up area, there is no signposting, there is a gutter encouraging you to park off the road minimising impact on traffic flow and the eventuality of your car being sideswiped but some ranger A-hole whose short of his quota for the day goes to town on the entire street.  This revenues a couple of thousand for the council and penalises a bunch of residents for trying to be courteous to other road users, what sort of emotion is that course of action likely to illicit from Joe Public?

To be quite honest I have too many things in my life that would be put at risk by belting anyone so I can’t let my temper run wild and haymaker my way through life much as sometimes I would like to.  I do have to bring an amount of, albeit a small amount of emotional intelligence to bear throughout day to day life otherwise I would end up like one of these people who can’t control their own actions and are unable to cope with the consequences of their own stupidity.  That won’t stop me quietly applauding from the sidelines someone who chooses to have a crack at authority however misguided it may be if it’s a rule or law I don’t agree with or respect.

that suxes, Lano.  I reckon if you get back to the car and move it immediately, before he gets to it then he should definitely let it go.

I had a case a year ago when the council changed the parking signs in the area we usually park, overnight without notice, then booked us ON THE VERY FIRST DAY OF THE NEW SIGNS when we parked in our usual spot next to a new sign that was hidden behind a tree!  We appealed that one and got out of it.
