STOKED I’ll be on a plane to the shred in 5 weeks!!!
stoked shred is in 5 weeks!
Builders are usually putting the frame up the next day after the slab is done. Ours was left for 2 - 3 days.
I was speaking with a builder tonight and he said it is very common for them to still be pouring the slab and have a surveyor on site to mark out the already dry concrete for the trusses.
Apparently they use something in the concrete so it sets quicker. I dunno, but our frame we up slower than some others have around here. I have never in my life seen a slab set for 28 days.
let me guess, this builder builds project homes yeh?
They only make money if they pump out the homes as quick as possible, hence they cut corners in every facet of the build (i.e. not letting slab cure) leaving a far inferior product compared to a non project home builder. But they cost more so its really you get what you pay for.I have seen a few slabs left for 28 days, like i said we go in after 2 weeks (14 days) but even then, we only stand frames and brace off pegs etc. Never dynabolt/ramset into green concrete. Its retarded to do that so early, you wont get any proper fixing and risk blowing out the edges of the slab.
I don’t know what you mean by project home?
Afraid to say that yours is a project home Blizz!
Meh our builder has a really good reputation and builds quality homes.
STOKED didn’t even notice I passed 5000 posts!!!
Meh our builder has a really good reputation and builds quality homes.
quality and project homes cant be used in the same sentence IMHO, but thats just my semi-professional opinion,
As long as your happy with the end result, that is all that matters!
That’s it and we want to make sure we are getting what we pay for so will be very cautious with our inspections and the final product. We have a 365day maintenance period, whereas most builders in the ACT only give you 90 days.
Some I know got an architect to draw up their plans and then they got a builder for the construction and there has been problem after problem for them. They are now kicking themselves that they didn’t go with our builder.
At the end of the day, this is our first house and a foot in the door in the property market
Thats all well and good, but if you read any contract with project builders, they are only liable to fix things to their standard. And i can guarantee you that their standard is a hell of lot lower than your standard. I spent 2 years of my apprenticeship doing nothing but repairing defects in project homes that the clients weren’t happy with but according to the builder, said defects were up to standard (and not just one company, we did jobs in houses that were built by all the major project builders all around the Illawarra).
I would only consider using a project builder if i never intended on living in it, but thats just me because i know what the quality of work is.
I really am not trying to rain on your parade (well, it certainly looks like i am but im not!), like i said as long as your happy, that’s the only thing that matters (after all it is YOUR house).
Stoked that I’ll probably have a big pile of new snow gear waiting for me after work!
