BILLIONAIRE JAMES Packer has today announced the signing of a billion dollar construction deal with developer Lend Lease to build a “world class international hotel resort’’ at Barangaroo.
In a landmark development, the move has officially confirm the casino magnate’s intentions of turning the Barangaroo site into one of Australia’s best tourist destinations.
Crown Executive Chairman, James Packer today said: “Sydney deserves one of the world’s great hotels on its magnificent harbour. My desire is for Crown to build the best hotel in the world at Barangaroo. Crown’s record demonstrates we can deliver a centrepiece that will draw millions of tourists. A Crown integrated resort at Barangaroo would boost the economy, create thousands of new jobs, contribute significant tax revenues to the State Government and enhance the overall attractiveness of Sydney as a first class international tourist destination.’‘

So it seems that star city are in talks with Packer to remove Star Cities exclusivity clause from their contract with the NSW gov so Crown can operate a casino in Sydney…

But i still stnad by the fact that Sydney can’t sustain 2 casino’s!
And i heard over the weekend that next year they will be demolishing the Convention Centre at Darling Harbour and building something bigger!
wonder where the boat show and the car show will go while they do all the building, if they do tear down the convention centre?
Funny! thats how i found out about it - a boat show organiser was at Perisher on Saturday. He said next year will be the last year there. and they weren’t sure where they would go.
ah ok. Freddy and I went to the boat show on saturday. We’d never been before - would probably have gone the last 2 years but we were in N.Z both times. It was really interesting to go with someone who actually builds boats and can see details in quality (build and finish) that 98% of others would miss!
If we ever end up buying a house, I might hire Deano to come check it out for build quality!
