Uh oh! How did that happen?!?!?

I was on the freeway on my way home, and a bunch of cars in front of me all hit the brakes real quick. I pulled up no problems, but the girl behind me mustn’t have been paying attention. She slammed into the back of me, and then another car slammed into the back or her.

The car at the back copped it the worst. The whole front of the car was crumpled, and both airbags went off. The passenger came out if it with a busted/bleeding nose.

Thankfully everyone was pretty much OK though.

ah crap! Glad everyone is relatively ok though.  Did the girl who hit you have insurance?

Ergh that sucks tills but at least you walked away uninjured!

Well done on leaving enough space/braking well enough not to hit anyone in front of you.

Yeah, thankfully she had insurance. Well, it was her dad’s car, and he is insured.

I’m lucky it’s a company car, and not my own. Makes it a little easier to deal with.

Cheers drc. Always leave the right amount of space on the freeway. Especially in the wet.

The people behind you were probably constantly monitoring their speedometers (to stay under the speed limit) instead of watching the road. Apparently, that’s what ‘good’ drivers do (well, according to the government/police).

Well they have to do that in Victoria because regardless of what the speed limit is, if you’re as much as 3km over the limit you’re gone. And of course they don’t tell you where the cameras are, so you’re constantly watching your speedo in fear of creeping a few km over for even a minute.

A couple of things about insurance.

If you have comprehensive insurance then whether the other car has insurance or not is not an issue.

You just ring your insurance company and say you were in an accident here is the other cars details and this is my side of the story.

You go get your car fixed…

It is up to the insurance companies to fight it out as to whose at fault. NEVER ADMIT FAULT - you never know what loop hole your insurance company can figure out.

And if it is the other persons fault and they don’t have insurance - its your insurances companies problem to chase them for money - take them to court whatever. Not yours.

I never understand why people do deals with the other driver - “oh take ti to my mate so i don’t have to go through insurance blah blah blah”

No thanks!

(yes i have bad luck with cars and have done this a few times now)

Spot on OZ.

All I want to go is take their licence details, and say “We’ll be in touch.” She was a little rattle last night. I think she may have been in shock. I asked her if she was insured, and when she told me she was I told her to relax, not to worry, and that all she needed to do was get herself home and let other people worry about the rest.

And yeah, I’d never admit fault. Last night she even sent me a text message apologising!

But if you don’t have insurance (like my first car, worth $4000 (insurance was like 1500 a year for me, not worth it)) and they write off your car, getting some money back for it ($1650) (especially when your engine always overheated and you had leaks) is quite a good deal lol. Then I went and got another car which I was planning anyway.

never had a car that was worth comprehensively insuring & don’t particularly plan on getting one, either!

. . . resulting in a MUCH higher rate of dangerous inattention to the road ahead, and a whole lot of rear end collisions - yet some gullible sheeple actually believe that it’s all about “safety”, not revenue raising!!!

Devo’d that I got a letter from my real estate agent that they want to increase my rent by over $20 a week! Ouch!

And my current housemate has barely been here 2 mths, she wont be impressed if I pass that on to her too! (well half!)

They also want me to sign a new lease (haven’t had one for 18mths)

I have just emailed calling their bluff (I have a small feeling that the owner has not been consulted!) and said I would sign a new lease at $10 a week increase.
