Love a good wax even when its not mine!

Yep, they’re the kind of tuning vises you should be using (but the board should really be positioned better over them tongue wink ).

I have a spare waxing iron - so if anyone needs one, let me know.

I know few of you were keen on the $50 snowboard iron and it was even tempting me. Thanks to K2’s post in the bargains section I discovered you can currently get the same iron for $35 delivered from here http://www.boardsupplyco.com.au/product/snowboard-waxing-iron so I decided to grab one and retire the Kmart iron.

I’ve also begun project build a ghetto tuning bench with the help of my father. He had a spare foldable work bench so we started from there and so far with a big $3 investment for a piece of wood things are coming together nicely. It’s not pretty but it will certainly do better than my current non existant setup. I’ll post up a photo when it’s completed.

Delivered! My kmart iron was doing the job just fine but I couldn’t knock this deal back.

My Dad just sent me a photo of the finished ghetto waxing/edge tuning bench. I won’t be able to test it until next week when I pop home but it will no doubt be better than my current non-existent setup.

We already had a spare foldable work bench so total cost would be under $10 (piece of wood a few screws and a rubber bath suction mat.)

ah the old triton work benches. My dad had one years ago, its still in his garage. We used to set up the bench planer on it.

Nice drc looks the goods!!! You’ll have to let us know how it goes!!!

Popped into the parents today and gave the bench a go. In summary it’s great, took 1/4 of the time it would usually take me to scrape. It’s very stable and the bath mat does a greeat job of holding the board down even when scraping the opposite end.

I took a couple of photos of it in action.

Wax head dog not included!

Sticky!

Bath mat is genius!

Sticky/suction cap side up is even more genius!

Nicework man, definitely interested to give it a go next time I’m around to see how the bath mat holds up with my top sheet
