The best approach for getting an appropriate height is to use a folding saw horse with snowboard tuning vises. It’s all you really need in a tuning bench, and you can pack the whole thing away! Which part of Sydney are you from, nyteskye? I’m happy to show you.

Same here, they’re perfect.
Actually, nyteskye, as I only use the one sawhorse, want to go halves?

So are you just using one horse with vices on it?
I’d only thought of laying the board across the two horses. I’m presuming you put a bit of weight into it when scraping and it doesn’t move?
Do you tend to tune with bindings on or off?
yeah i was thinking of putting the board across both saw horses? ive got some rubber matting already to put on top so it doesnt slide.. as i dont have tuning vices,
like drc stated.. would it move once scraping over the two saw horses?
im from blacktown/parra area

Consider the width of a snowboard, and the much wider width occupied by two sawhorses. Ideally, you want the platform you place your board on to be just a tad narrower than your board - so it’s easy to get around the entire edge for tuning. That’s why vises work so well - and they also enable you to place the board on its side as well.
If you wax with your bindings fully on, wax will pool opposite where your inserts are. It’s best to remove your bindings, or at least loosen them.
honestly it doesnt matter really, the el-cheapo route (any old clothes iron) does the job but just takes a bit of extra time, a snowboard specific iron is easier to use because its smaller and heats up to temp way faster but in the end they do the same job
I bought a snowboard specific iron on ebay for $40, came with a scraper, steel brush and some cheapo wax that i use for summer waxing my boards. When you think about it, paying a shop to wax your board $15-25 each time is a rip when you can do it yourself for little over a few $$ for the whole season
Only important thing is BUY GOOD WAX!! OneBallJay is my favourite, in the All Temp series! Highly Reccomended!
i think i did an okay with my first wax job.. .. ??.. i followed the waxing tutorial.. hopefully i did it right
not something you can tell from a photo unfortunately. So cant help ya mate! As long the base feels silky smooth, you have scraped off all the excess wax properly. It should glissen in light
Small tip for beginners: Don’t hot wax the top sheet!!!!
You can buy travel irons from Kmart or Big W I can’t remember, thats what I use, about the same size as the snowboard specific iron and 1/10th the price.

Oh will def have to look into this!!!
So I just waxed my snowboard for the first time tonight with my new iron/wax kit. Waxing was easier than I thought and the scraping wasn’t too bad, but gee, a lot of mess. I think I put too much wax on :/ ahh well, base came up good though might start a business! Haha
I have been waxing my board all season and in addition to what the video tutorial says you need I also have some suggestions. A file to sharpen your scraper. If you are using saw horses then you will need some vices to hold the board steady. And the scourer it says to use in the tutorial is essential in my opinion. it removes all the wax that your scraper cant get
