damm. I thought Goss was in with a chance after that crash!
^ He’s looking good, that’s for sure!
Awesome seeing Hincapie leading the peloton into the Champs Élysées. That dude’s a living legend.
SENSATIONAL FINISH!!!!!
Seeing a GC winner (Wiggins) lead out his team’s superstar sprinter (Cav) for the stage win is virtually unheard of!!!
Cav was just playing with Matty in the end - but it’s a shame nevertheless that he (Goss) just got pipped at the post by Sagan for 2nd.
This was the most boring tour ever.
I would have to agree wasn’t the best. However that was a good finish!
This was the most boring tour ever.
If it wasn’t for the end of the Paris stage, I’d probably agree.
If I was a TdF publicist, I’d have been playing up the Wiggins/Froome ‘battle’ for all it was worth! It had all the makings of the iconic LeMond/Hinault clash from the mid 1980’s - but Spy team management deliberately played it down.
Still, it’s great to finally have a Tour GC winner who’s actually got some personality!
That was the most disappointing/boring tour I can remember watching. Just total dominance by team sky. It’s a lot more interesting when there are multiple contenders for the GC.
My favourite in recent times was a couple of years back when we had Cadel, Armstrong, Contador, The Schleck brothers, Bassa etc all attacking at different times keeping everyone on their toes.
I don’t think the course this year helped either I’m all for less time trials and sprints and put in a bunch more mountain top finishes! Even a lot of the big climbs this year were too early in the day making attacks too risky as you would then have to stay away from the peloton during the descent/flats.
Nibali and Evans teams should have ganged up on SKY more. Cavandishs 2nd win when he sprinted from way out and over took the breakaway group on the line was pretty darn impressive. The race for the polka dotted jersey was pretty fun to watch this year.
Yeah the KOM was more exciting than the GC. Unfortunately I can’t stand Voeckler. He was pathetic in the yellow last year never doing any of the work up front refusing to do his bit when in break aways and expecting the other riders from different teams to pull his weight around everywhere. His neck would have been more tired than his legs from all the head shaking he did.
You’re right, Voeckler was a habitual wheel-sucker. Cadel used to be too.
